vintage tele control plate

im working on a friends guitar ( tele) it is not a fender but it looks and sounds just as good. it was built id say in the sixties or early fifties any way i was replacing the switch and tried to put the new one in. and it didnt fit so i looked around and found out the spaceing on the holes have changed the original is some thing like an inch and a half the new one is one and five eigths
if i wanted to i could make it fit by grinding it. but vintage parts are so valueable. any one know how much about this control plate is worth. might not be worth shit but a good question to ask.
