Blues Bass Needed for Blues Challenge in Pittsburgh
Ahh the challenges of making music these days..... Chuck Mason and Blue Reality needs a bass player for the BSWPA Blues Challenge on April 10th. Events beyond our bass player's control, work scheduling ect., controll will not allow him to keep up with the band's schedule in the future. If we were to win the Challenge, the player you show up with on the 10th has to go to Memphis, and he won't be able to find the time. So as much as I hate to do this, its better now than later. Please keep this in mind that if we win, you're in for the ride.
So here's the scoop. We are looking for some one well versed in the blues and enjoys playing it. If you're not familiar with the genre, this isn't the opportunity to learn. We have four original songs written that borrow from familiar forms. If you're a good blues bass player, this shouldn't be hard. You'll need to find sufficeint for rehearsal here in State College between now and the 10th, and travel to Pittsburgh for Saturday and Sunday of that weekend.
Check out our wesite at www.bluerealitymusic.com The drummer and I have been at it for years and know these songs inside and out. If you know the blues you'll be right at home. And we can play. Some of the cats around here have heard us and can vouch for that. Anyone want to jam their ass off, have a great weekend and then who knows what for the future?
PM me here or call at 280-7375.
Thanks,
Chuck Mason
PS Please help spread the word for us!!!!!
Thanks to everyone for the help......

Blue Challenge
Had a great time at the Challenge. We didn't "win" but we played well, received a lot of compliments (some were actually sincere
) . Pete Caccamo is a tremendous bass player and we did as well as we hoped to.
One thing I knew going in was that we didn't have enough live experience as a band. Not enough road miles and that was the case. That's always been my rag bout the area. A band can't play much and the music suffers. But things are tuff in Pittsburgh too. Half of the bands in the Challenge struggle to gig consistantly and the area is loosing rooms and audiences.
Made a lot of contacts and I'd love to follow up with some gigs in the 'Burgh. Anyone out there want to play some bass for some blues? Oh yeah and I'll need a drummer too. After making the trip Jerry realized that he doesn't want to travel as far as he thought so I'm looking for someone who wants to put more time into this.
The ggod news is our music was good enough to compete and we fit right in. They gave us an invite for next year so who wants to Jam some Blues?
