It's good to see more different stations are picking up on doing local music. College stations like WIUP are often the most receptive for bands and artists trying to get radio airplay.
There's also the possibility that a local music program could be starting up in the Johnstown area soon. I'll let you know if I hear further word about it...
I posted about Sherri Mullen's "Musician Showcase" program previously. Some excellent news from that front - the internet station Sherri does that program on, Harrisburg Broadcasting Network (www.hbnradio.org), recently announced that their entire music playlist is switching to all indie and local/regional performers. Several area bands are already in rotation on HBN, including Felix & the Hurricanes, Nevermoure (Vs. the Earth), Gypsy & the Crazymoon and The Grimm. One of HBN's goals is to eventually broadcast an FM signal in the Harrisburg area as well.
Sherri informed me that any bands who want to submit music for airplay on her show or HBN Radio can send broadcast-quality CD's to her at this address:
Sherri Mullen
P.O. Box 177
Middletown, PA 17057
Bands and artists can also find out more by emailing HBN Radio at hbnradio1@msn.com.
