Dave Charlton

I'm not gonna youtube him or whatever, but the dude plays a mean seven string. It's like sludgy bong rips from a guitar! Just listening to it makes you fail a urinalysis.

I have to put votes in for Tony McAlpine and Dave Weiner. They're both 7 string guys.

(Silly shenanigans from both Tony and Vai, mind you!)

(After a few minutes of acoustic stuff)

Rusty Cooley is fairly sick as well. I believe he plays 7s and 8s as well as some custom Conklin 9s.

I'm kinda surprised that guitarists don't take to extra strings and extended ranges like bassists do. I thought for sure Petrucci, Vai, Satch, and more of the greats all using 7s on some of their songs would've made for a LOT more 7 string players. I guess they don't play them full time, so most of their guitarist fans won't either.

BUT.... I thought with Ibanez, Schecter, and more making affordable production 8 strings (with the help of EMG making the 808) would've had a bigger impact too. It seems their only place is dark metal or similar genres. I'd love to see more 'ERG's out there being shredded like the cats in you guys' videos.

and half as expensive as the guitars you would buy at any music shop since you're buying directly from them. You can get the equivalent of an ESP LTD MH 1000 for around $600 Plus they make 7 string and 8 string models just as cheap.
