A few more custom drum builds

Post by 4_the_pocket »

I had some time to make these over the holidays - a 6.5 x 14 aluminum snare and a stainless steel set of hi hats.

The snare turned out exceptionally well:

Pretty sweet snare there. Hows it sound compared to your wood snares? How'd you close the seam?

Thanks, Rob. The seam is welded.

Its a total "players" drum. I have stainless, brass, copper and titanium snares and now this aluminum. The shell is extremely thin ~3/32 so there is a nice warmth and bottom to it. Compared to a wood snare it is brighter with slightly more attack. Ill be gigging with it this weekend so Ill get a better feel for it then. So far it fits in well with my other high end snares; just a different voice.
