Dat tapes to cd.
I have a couple of dat tapes that I would like to get the music off of them and on to a cd. Does any one know how to do this? Or can you point me in a direction where I can get this done. I don't think the person that recorded these in 98 is still in the area. Thanks

DAT & CD are almost always different sampling rates, so you would need either hardware or software & a computer to downsample the 48khz DAT to 44.1khz CD.
The easiest rig I can think of is a DAT deck and a CD player/recorder with S/PDIF digital inputs and outputs. The CD recorder would have to be able to translate 48khz into 44khz. Some can, some can't.
Another option is to take a DAT deck and dump the DAT recording to a computer via S/PDIF and use converter software to convert it to CD or mp3 format. You can then burn it to disk.
Of course, you could go to just about any local studio and have it done for a modest fee.

Yeah - I'm sure they could do it at Data Music Services, or if you are closer to State College than Altoona, I could do it at my studio. I'd just have to plug in my DAT machine to make sure it still works! Looks like you're in Loretto, though, which is def closer to Altoona than Boalsburg!
Not sure how much it would cost. It just depends on how many minutes of recording there is, and whether or not you want to do any editing or anything like that.
