Improving an ESP LTD MH-201

Post by Dark Soul »

I know a lot of you guys on here are always talking about modifying your guitars to get the most out of your sound. I, myself, know virtually nothing about this sort of thing. So just out of curiosity, I thought I'd ask: Does anyone know if there's anything I can do to my ESP LTD MH-201 to improve the sound? As far as I know, everything's like it was when it was new aside from what looks like several years of normal wear and tear. Any suggestions would be appreciated. :)

Edit: Sorry for the typo. Previously in the subject line I had "MH-104" instead of "201". Dunno how that happened...

LOL! Yeah, right. Talk about overcompensating...

If I had the money for all that, I wouldn't be playing an MH-201...I'd have a guitar designed by John Petrucci, built by Brian May and carried perpetually by the green chick from Star Trek.

I bet half those things don't even have speakers in 'em! :P

The two with the mics are probably the only ones that are loaded. Looks cool, though.

which pickups does it have? I dont like the ESP pickups at all; nor do I care for the EMG passives in an ESP

I have 5 ESP and I have EMG 81 in all the bridges. I really like what it did for my tone

The pickups appear to be the original Duncan design HB-102 humbuckers.

ya i would get new pickups.. depending on what style of music you play..if metal i would go with emg actives or the seymour duncan blackouts...not hard to insall either if you can read a schematice and solder your set...

im a few days late on this, but that's just funny!
The script was written, and the villian was cast. The provocation needed, they will provide. They did it before, they'll do it again.

Most definitely ,I have a few Ltd's first thing to go is the stock pickups.Mine either have the Seymour Duncan Distortion or the Jb in the bridge. If you go to Seymour Duncan website click "Support"click "Tone Wizard" from there you can enter guitar type wood style of music and it can help recommend the right duncan for you. Hope this helps

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I play all kinds of music so I want a pickup that has a good all-around sound. A friend of mine has the same guitar I do but his has a DiMarzio Evolution pickup in it. He says it sounds awesome. I might look into something like that.
