Most overated bands out there....

Post by gibson980 »

Not talking local bands, because someone will have a pissy fit :)

What bands do you think are most overated? When you think about them, "wtf" should come across your mind as to how they even got signed, get radio time, and how their still around!

#1- WHITE STRIPES - seriously people thats effing garbage! I dont even count them as a rock band/musicians. They blow the you know what.

#2- The Rolling Stones - sorry they are all image!

#3- AeroSmith- Only like dream on and same old song and dance.... Other than that , they are the enegizer band that keeps on sucking and sucking.

#4- Radiohead
#5- Sound Garden- gay
#6- SLayer- Sorry guys they freaking suck
#7- Incubus- not my cup of tea
#8- U2- I hate boner
#9- Im having a brain fart and cant think of anymore

I agree with the Stones bein on this list. They are dinosaurs and need to take the rest of their lives off before Keith Richards dies on stage and they have to push Mick around in a wheelchair.
I think Creed needs to stay away.
Aerosmith because they cant seem to come up with anything really new as far as sound is concerned
Ozzy - as great as he is - there is a time to just stop. I dont know maybe gettin rid of Wylde will do the trick but then again who knows. Then again I think a lot of bands from the 70s and 80s need to quit holdin on to the past. Too many changes in lineups and all.
Having talent is one thing....what you do with it is something else

Coldplay seems over rated perhaps? Might not be fair for me to say that though since im not too familiar with them.

Soundgarden is a MUSICAL FORCE that deserves props in about EVERY way....but thats only my opinion

LOL! Definitely a controversial thread

The Ramones

I don't see how they're overratted. They always admitted to not being very talented.

and they inspired many many kids to start their own band for that reason.

They were popular because they were simple and fun.

Overrated and Popular are 2 different things. I can see how people don't like them, but they are not overrated.

This thread title should be changed to "Popular bands that you don't get/like".

When I think Overrated, I think of people getting credit for something they really are not that good at.

Example: Jimi Hendrix is overrated. and Dick Dale is Underrated.

Fuck your opinions :P

I guess your right B. I liked the Ramones tunes but never thought the talent was there. They did inspire a lot of cool bands. I guess it depends on who is doing the rating ( the public or the media )

Overrated threads are pet peeves of mine.

The word "Overrated" is overrated.

Only once in my life did I think this way about a musician.
I think it was Rolling Stone magazine, and Cobain and Hendrix were on the cover. It said something like, "Remembering Rocks Greatest Guitarists". I shit my pants and threw up at the same time.

Epitome of OVERRATED

Thats like a review I read on Macho Man Randy Savage's "Be a Man" album. The guy said that "It defy's the laws of physics by sucking and blowing at the same time". I think it sold 642 copies.

Ya know, if everyone's opinion is that you must be super-talented to be allowed to make it in any press or sell your albums, ALL OF US might as well quit right now.

Here's the current definition of Overrated in this thread: Popular but I didn't like them, or hold some grudge. Or my sister liked them. I hate my sister.

led zeppelin - they really weren't that great.

pink floyd - ugh. i like me some pink floyd. i really do. david gilmour is not a guitar genious. he's average. just like the nuge.

grateful dead - just like i can't stand phish, i can't stand these guys. i hate listening to long songs of just noodling. i like dream theaters long songs, but they have structure. and fuck jerry garcia. why? just cuz.

green day - ooooooooo! someone can write a political song... they are sooooo cutting edge.

bruce springsteen - i hate his voice. i hate his typical rock and roll songs. i really don't think he has much to offer the world's music scene.

that's all i can think of for now. don't get me wrong. i like zep. i like floyd. i thin kthe dead have an ok song or two. green day used to be cool. even bruce has a song or two that i can tolerate. oh... i almost forgot.

u2 - because bono is a cock. no, really... he is. he thinks he's the biggest peice of shit in the world!

This list really isn't going to win me any friends on here but:

ACDC
Nirvana
Pantera (not saying their stuff wasn't good, I just don't think it was THAT good)
Nickleback
Neil Young
the Sex Pistols are WAAAAAY overrated...and assholes
I actually hate to say this, because I love them....but the Ramones are also kind of overrated
Pretty much any band/rapper that gets airplay on 100.1 **shutter**
Worth dying for. Worth killing for. Worth going to hell for. Amen.

Audioslave: Super-group? Really?

Velvet Revolver: Another super-group? Really?

I really can't get into either one....

who else? Hmmm.....
Brittany Spears, and every one of those pop star women who suck dick and shake their ass to get to the top. They always have great bands that can play too, but never get notoriety.

All those 90's one hit wonder rock bands....Soul Asylum, Everclear, Nada Surf, 7 Mary Three, Fastball, Gin Blossoms....They all suck.

I agree with brian on this thread 85%. Any one can say something is over rated based on a degree of talent and or on their personal genre interest. I will say one thing, if they are on top of the billboard charts because of sells by 16 year old girls....i would say OVER RATED!
The script was written, and the villian was cast. The provocation needed, they will provide. They did it before, they'll do it again.
