Ohh, it's ON...NHL Style!!!

Okay, kiddies! Penguins vs. Red Wings, round 2, for Lord Stanley's Cup.

Predictions?

In all honesty, Pittsburgh has a very good chance. NOT because they are a better team, mind you. Here's my 3 reasons why they have a good shot:

1. They are HOT. Especially only giving up one PK Goal in the Carolina series. That says a lot. Malkin is on fire, Sid is playing well, Billy Guerin (the best signing the Pens have had in YEARS) is leading the team with veteran presence, and Fleury is turning into the goalie you all thought he would be.

2. Detroit is hurt. No Nick Lidstrom, no Pavel Datsyuk, Jon Ericsson, and Kris Draper.

3. Detroit is tired. The series starts Friday, and the Wings only dressed six defensemen for the closeout game vs. the Blackhawks. 4 of those six played over 24 minutes, and Chris Chelios, who only dressed due to injury, played 12 minutes on his 47 year-old legs.

The Pens have to go to Hockeytown, and if they can take at least one game in Detroit, they have a really, really good shot.

That said, you are playing the defending Stanley Cup champs, and one of the most storied franchises in all of hockey. They have home ice advantage, and the hottest goalie, bar none, in the playoffs. They win when they are beat up, tired, and low on players. There's just something magic about the Wings that no other franchise can top. Maybe they don't have Malkin or Crosby, but they don't need 'em to hoist the Cup, as evidenced last season.

My prediction?

In six games....

very well written predictions. in fact i dont think barry melrose could have said it any better. hahaha that said.....pittsburgh has unfinished business. they got the chance at a rematch, and they have a vendetta against hossa. the guy pretty much said "fuck you pittsburgh, i want to win the cup so im going to detroit" i think the pens stand a much better chance this year than last year. but detroit is still dangerous and i could see this series going to 7.

The pens are playing how they did in 91-92. You know what happened in 91-92?

Kevin, lets put a case against it.

I have to go with the Pens in 7 because Savage Sid picked up the Prince of Wales trophy this year.

I think it will be Pens this year. Second rounds are always the best - Plus I haven't shaved or got a hair cut since the playoffs started, so this grizzly look has to amount to something !!

I predict Pens in 7. The Pens are the hot team, last year is still in their craw, they have playoff and Stanley Cup finals experience they didn't have a year ago (plus a tougher road to get to the final this year), and their young stars are playing better and more consistently. I think like last year, it will be a war, but the Pens will know to expect physical play from the Wings, and can dish out some themselves.

I can't say for sure who's actually going to win, or in how many games. But I predicte the pens don't hand the red wings 2 free games before bothering to show up this year.

Pens in 6
And the series starts on saturday.
They are a totally different squad than last years edition,we had to battle this year in the playoffs.
They had too easy of run last year and just got overwhelmed in the finals especially games 1 and 2.
They understand what it takes to win,and also they broke the superstition by handling the Prince Of Wales trophy.
I am so stoked I can't sleep.

I bet the winner will be the one that puts the puck in the net the most amout of times. I know nothing about Hockey, I have tried to watch it but never have been able to get into it.

Only 9 hrs and 35 mins. away from the puck drop.

Here's to hoping Fleury doesn't trip over the step to the ice
That doomed him and he even said as much
