We are already existing as their welfare state. All the Mexican citizens who need welfare come here to get on it.lonewolf wrote:Well, that makes him North American.Merge wrote:He was born in Mexico in 1947, he moved to San Francisco in the early 60's.f.sciarrillo wrote:Is he even an american ?
I say we take Mexico while we still have the muscle.

They'll probably add all kinds of chemicals to it too, just like regular smokes.Drum-Wolf wrote:I'm with Carlos on this one - legalize it! Obama & Congress could tax the shit out of it to generate mucho revenue just like regular smokes.

you raise a valid point, here, sir!
Can you identify a genital wart?
A good reason to keep the government out of it. Hell ya! I'm always amazed at the guys who have no discernible talents otherwise, but could get the Nobel Prize for Botany when it comes to weedliness.undercoverjoe wrote: Grow yer own.

They call it weed because it's a... WEED! It grows anywhere. I envision getting a flat tire on a deserted country road, looking over in the ditch, and having it being a pretty good day anyway.

You would be able to patch the tire with the resins. Don't forget...before there was synthetics...there was HEMP.songsmith wrote:Hell ya! You'd still have a flat tire, but now you wouldn't mind it so much.--->JMS

In the current state of the government, it wouldn't make sense to legalize it. They just starting hitting the cigarette industry hard on claims of being unhealthy, so why would the turn around and legalize smoking something else? Really, it could be a good source of revenue, but I don't want more people doing drugs than there already are.

just because it's legal dosn't mean people would do it. if heroin was legal, i wouldn't touch it. i know people that are so anti pot that it's disgusting, so i'm sure if it was legal they wouldn't just start smoking it.... hey wait... wasn't there a another thread on here... something about "how would you run things" and you said you'd legalize it there... hmmm... flipping sides? you two faced asshat.

I think pretty much everybody who would smoke pot either have, or do. It'd be like alcohol: you're not supposed to drink if you're under 21, but most people who drink were regular drinkers by then.
For the record, I don't want everybody high all the time. I want my bus driver to be nice and sober. I want the guy fixing my brakes to be round-eyed. Know what I mean? I don't want kids to do it, like they do alcohol... in both cases, you have to be responsible about it, and if you do something stupid, you should pay.
It's actually possible that pot could be legalized for taxation purposes. I have to admit, I've been hearing the legalization rumblings since high-school, but never as loud as now. I would think revenue stream is as good a motivator for gov't as any. We're already seeing decriminalization on a scale I never thought would happen just a few years ago, so who knows? It was made illegal to keep people from making money from it, so it'd be poetic to have the gov't make money on it like they do booze and tobacco.---->JMS
