hey I just got my tax return back and what do you know the gov said that I was off by the exact amount of the stimulus check that I received last year.

I didn't know that it was a loan, anyone else see this happen?

I guess my software could have been off.....

I have not really heard anything about this so I am just curious....

Your tax software should have asked you if you got the rebate check last year and if you answer no, it computes that you should get it with your return this year. If you answer yes, it doesn't give it to you again. At least that is how its suppose to work.

Exact same thing happened to me. Someone let me know if we are both wrong so my wife and I can collect our loot back from the fucking IRS.

I am checking into this to see if there is a rule in place to mandate this type of thing. I was under the impression that the check from 08 was a "freebie" from the gov. I did indicate that I received money from the gov but I got less then a lot of people that I know... So I was surprised to see them take it back...

Jeff you out there? Thoughts?

I agree that it was a loan but did everyone understand that?

It is very possible that I just missed that part of it but I am still going to dig a bit....
