Current goings on.
What are you guys doing musically?
http://www.myspace.com/feduppa
After a few months off and some lineup changes, Fedup is back at it and we'll be playing April 25th at the PSU Altoona campus with a bunch of other cool local bands. I can't wait. We just did record a full length last summer at Faceoff, but with our new drummer/bassist some of our songs have taken a new look. We may release some of the songs as an EP however. And I'd still like to put something on Vinyl. This is the most aggressive Fedup has ever been and we still have those hooks. Get Stoked!!!!!
http://www.myspace.com/itsasideeffects
The summertime sweethearts known as The Side Effects are back.
We go through bassists like Spinal Tap does drummers and we don't give a fuck. Just some sloppy drunk rock meets melodic hardcore in gay bar while someone sings A karaoke version of The Bette Midler Version of "THe Rose" in the background. Serious Biz!!!! Coming to a basement kegger/backyard BBQ near you!!!
If these bands aren't classy enough for you, please don't come to our shows. Unless your girlfriend is a total slut, then by all means, welcome friend!!!
Now let's see what everyone else is doin. New/old/Middle School I don't care. All genres. Just don't copy and paste your URL. Tell me a lil about yourself.

Well, Jim has been in the mix since October and I gotta tell you, what a pleasure to have him on board. There's a gellin' going on that feels great on stage and he's just a cool cat.
Within the last two weeks, we blew the dust off of our first original, retooled it a little and put it back out there at our shows. It's getting a great response from crowds which kicks ass and we're now getting ready to go into the practice room to start writing again. We all feel pretty pumped about the possibilities as far as our originals go. Lotsa talent behind me on this stage. Can't wait to start biting into it.
We'll keep you posted.

I have been taking some time off, somewhat against my own will, as I get some shit together for my move. I just picked up a cymbal sponsorship with Soultone Cymbals so I am just working on selling my old collections to replace with the new brand. I am altering my setup and my target sound so it is quite exciting.
Other than that I am just jamming and practicing and beginning to look in the Raleigh area for my next endeavor.

Edging towards our Ten Year Anniversary in April. Trying to finish the 'Hobo Stew' CD.. Plugging away; trying to get out & see our friends playing when we can.

We have been playing some new venues lately which is cool. I took you guys advice from a few months ago and decided to branch out a bit and so far things are going good.
After releasing another pop punk album last year we have decided to change our style for our up coming album and go more towards the metal genre. Not super heavy metal though, like Iron Maiden metal with a female singer. We have one song ready and 4 in the works. Hopefully releasing the album late summer of this year.
This is a cool thread!

Rehearsing with the new bassist, Kelly Montgomery, in Mama Corn. We're doing some experimental recording, and hoping that turns out. We're gearing up bigtime for the summer bluegrass season, I look for it to be a bit subdued compared to the last few years, but that just means we hit it even harder, so we stand out.
Economically, hard times tend to equal busier musicians and bigger crowds, so I'm looking forward to that. People will always bust loose on Saturday night, and the harsher the week was, the wilder the weekend.
On a personal level, I've been beating the sh*t out of my guitjo/banjitar/whateverthehellyoucallit lately. It's a banjo with a guitar neck on it, and fun as hell. Old school metal is way fun to hear coming from a banjo, it makes me LOL, but I've been working on a variant of clawhammer banjo using the thumb and two fingers on the picking hand. On clawhammer, you pick two sharp bass notes out on a string, then clang a chord with the fingers. It sounds like "macaroon, macaroon, macaroon..." With my variation, you pick one bass note then two short chords... "cheeseburger, cheeseburger, cheeseburger..." John Belushi would be proud.
Anyway, it's addictive, try a weird instrument if you're in a rut.--->JMS

Way Down East has eight new songs written, which I just went to the studio today to lay down the drums. We will be hitting area stages in the fall.
Blackout keeps working in new material as well as working Ken into the mix. Ken has added a whole new dimension to us. Not only in songs but beefing up the songs by playing guitar. We hope to be in some new venues real soon.

Nah, it's a Dean Backwoods 6, they go a little over $200 street. It's laugh-out-loud funny to play, say, Sabbath on it at first, then you get into the meat of the sound and you're playing all sorts of weirdness on it. It just begs you to play fast and choppy, and it's got this boingy sound that sounds nothing like a guitar, even though it really is. No pickup on it, though... I wish there was. Banjo's are notoriously hard to amplify, only the most expensive PU's really work, and they don't sound much like an unamped banjo.
Music Emporium usually has one on the wall, though I don't know if they do right now. Tuning is standard 6-string guitar tuning, or whatever derivative you want. They make nicer ones, but the Backwoods 6 is a fine starter.--->JMS

I'm not doing shit. As it seems, with my recent antic's as SkeezerBoy on ROCKPAGE, it has been hard to get together with anyone to EVEN get an audition/try out. Jake William's is probably giggling with joy. I'm not really that concerned. Due to my own assholiness that's all. I'm not thin skinned. I'll keep putting up an ad. What happen's will happen. Until then, I will just post what I feel worthy and BUMP now and then...SkeezerBoy has left the schoolyard....~SnOOge Bitches!!

I play in a cover band (The Banditos) and we have been gearing up, with a new line-up, getting ready to do more shows and learning lots of new material
and...
I have had the pleasure to jam and record an original album of fine songs with a group of cool cats right here in what I call home.. Altoona
I am really honored to be a part of "Chris Vipond and the Stanley street band"
A fresh and new sound for the area.. I cant wait to get the CD into others hands.. I am really proud of the work we've done, especially since it is a self produced album.. can't wait for everyone to hear it.. Everyone can catch a sample here...

I've been playing and writing music as usual.
Been trying for a while to find 'the right people' for the music I want to do.
It's proven futile, but my music style and what I want to play will not be compromised.
I could have been in a band by this time, but I choose to stick to my guns.
I'd rather not play out at all, than to play music that my heart isn't in. Simple as that.
I have a day job and I dont have the rock star dream, so when the time is right it will happen, if not, fuck it, I dont care.
I'll still play what I want to.
It's not really the music I play or want to play, its the lack of similar interest because of the area I live in.
Fuck the Top 40 shit...that's my new motto

I'm not too into the top 40 stuff either.. thats why I play in an original
band.. we are carving our own sound.. it touches on genres that have
been done already, yes but we make our own path.. we take favorable melody, twist and shape it, till it sounds unique.. We don't wanna sound like
anyone, but you can hear stuff within our music.

I'm just working. Music has been a slowed thing lately. I've been relaxed too much in music, but right this second, I feel like I'm supposed to wait. I know that when I get back into writing more, it'll take a new turn, and I'll be head on into it. It's just not my time musically. But when I get back to it (soon, very soon), I'm going at it like a maniac with a chainsaw!
