I have been advertising myself on different forums wanted adds to be a SOUNDMAN. I am getting passed over big time

I am a 35 year old all american SOUNDMAN who loves classic rock. I do not know why I am being passed over. I think too many Pa bands have the attitude that SOUNDMEN are just groupies and backup singers.

I have a lot more to offer than just being some groupie or backup singer

1) let me preface this by saying that I would venture to guess it is this kind of whiny / poor-me / screw you-if-you-don't-give-me-what-I-want attitude that prevents you from getting where / what you want - are you sure you're 21? you sound like you're 10 years old and didn't get what you wanted under your Christmas tree......

2) if you had joined this board more than a week ago (which further illustrates your tantrum-throwing attitude), you would have seen ludwigdrummerboy get LAMBASTED for the drivel he put up complaining about Jim Price not getting to one of his shows - GASP! We mocked and criticized a guy! You're kidding! -- the people here have been UNBELIEVABLY nice to you in light of the self-centered, me-me-me / you're-all-just-discriminating-against-me attitude you've displayed...

3) the advice and comments you have received here on this board demonstrate the overall EXCELLENT people that "hang out" here - I thought for sure they were gonna jump your shit big time (as you deserved) but instead you got offers to jam a bit, advice on how find what you want, and encouragement to persevere (as we have all had to do in this musical venture of ours) - you turned around and bit the hands that were trying to feed you - being from Ohio, I have seen the difference in my 2 years on the scene here, and I am SO impressed with the PA scene - take advantage, keep pluggin away, and for god's sake quit crying

4) yes, discrimination happens - pig-headed people (men AND women) are out there - but recognize when it's appropriate to interpret a situation that way and when it isn't

either realize that, for the most part, the people of the PA music scene are VERY cool people or do us all a favor and just shut up already, for it is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt

Hey Dave,
Back to your post about wanting to turn the knobs!
Maybe your already doing this I don,t know or have done this, but find someone who is turning knobs regularly and work with them.
Be seen, do what ever you can with them. The better they are the better your chances for show dates. Carry gear wrap cables, try too mix at one of their shows simply being seen with them will get you much credibility.
They may even recommend you when they get too busy!
