Best all time TV theme song(s) ?
Best all time TV theme song(s) ?
I was flipping through TV channels the other day when I heard the theme song on a cartoon network of "The Jetsons". The theme song is really good. Very good arrangement and some great playing !
Here is a sample: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZL3l8iCA4k
So I searched for TV theme song lists and found many like this one.

Yeah good old Waylon! I always wanted to learn that on guitar, but I never did for some reason. This calls for some tab searching!Hawk wrote:You know, I used to cover that song in a country band I was in fro a while.metalchurch wrote:Easy
Dukes of Hazzard.
I loved that show as a kid and I bought all of the seasons too.
Hey where's Bo Duke been anyway?
Donna, +1 on Happy Days! I remember watching that one as a kid too.
Another one that has no words, but I used to whistle is M*A*S*H, that was such a cool show!!
The Brady Bunch is another classic.

My all time favorite was the X-men animated series:

I told myself if I was ever in a rock band that I'd cover this.

There are words, but they only did it for the movie:metalchurch wrote:Another one that has no words, but I used to whistle is M*A*S*H, that was such a cool show!!
Suicide Is Painless
from M.A.S.H.
Through early morning fog I see
visions of the things to be
the pains that are withheld for me
I realize and I can see...
[REFRAIN]:
that suicide is painless
it brings on many changes
and I can take or leave it if I please.
I try to find a way to make
all our little joys relate
without that ever-present hate
but now I know that it's too late, and...
[REFRAIN]
The game of life is hard to play
I'm gonna lose it anyway
The losing card I'll someday lay
so this is all I have to say.
[REFRAIN]
The only way to win is cheat
And lay it down before I'm beat
and to another give my seat
for that's the only painless feat.
[REFRAIN]
The sword of time will pierce our skins
It doesn't hurt when it begins
But as it works its way on in
The pain grows stronger...watch it grin, but...
[REFRAIN]
A brave man once requested me
to answer questions that are key
is it to be or not to be
and I replied 'oh why ask me?'
[REFRAIN]
'Cause suicide is painless
it brings on many changes
and I can take or leave it if I please.
...and you can do the same thing if you please.
...Oh, the freedom of the day that yielded to no rule or time...
Those lyrics were written by the teenaged son of the movie's producer, I've heard. How cool would that be... you write some very teenlike lyrics about pain and angst and such on the inside cover of your 3-ring binder, and it winds up in a classic movie. The lyrical version was a minor adult-contemporary hit, too, I remember it being played on the radio.
I like the bass lines from Night Court and Barney Miller; the Sanford & Son theme (written by Quincy Jones), the Northern Exposure opening, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Squidbillies, and the old TV 10 Action News theme. Fat Albert & the Cosby Kids was ratty and funky. The Jeffersons theme was awesome, you HAD to sing along, it sounded like an AME church. Welcome Back Kotter had a catchy theme, too bad the show was SO bad.
I'm surprised at how many themes I like from animated shows. I wonder why? Possibly because kids were so lasered in on them when I was young. Everybody knows the themes to the Flintstones, Scooby-Doo Where Are You?, ah hell, I bet if I listed a cartoon most of us would remember the theme, even if we weren't fans of the show.--->JMS

Two of my all time favorites are the Al Caiola version of Experiment In Terror and The Munsters theme.
Experiment In Terror - Al Caiola - This version of this tune was jazzed up and eventually used for the theme for Chiller Theatre on WIIC Channel 11 Pittsburgh. This tune was written by Henry Mancini and a slower version was used in the movie, Experiment In Terror. Here is the version used for Chiller Theatre on this website link. http://www.last.fm/music/Al+Caiola/_/Ex ... +in+Terror
Theme from The Munsters – Jack Marshall. You can listen to it here. http://www.tvland.com/theme_songs/

Experiment in terror...now that's bringing back some fond memories. I LOVED Chiller theatre and Chilly Billy Cardilly back in the day. I could never make it all the way through the second feature though. It was over at like 3:30 a.m. It was the best though. I miss that show. It had such a cool vibe and I tried not to miss it at all. The girl who played "Terminal stare" Stephan, the little midget guy, The original Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, The crawling eye, Creature from the black lagoon, The original Dracula.....they were so cool for a pre-teen growing up in the 60's. Thanks for the link!moxham123 wrote:Two of my all time favorites are the Al Caiola version of Experiment In Terror and The Munsters theme.
