Favorite 3 pc. group
There have been alot of great 3 pc. power trios that have left a mark in rock and roll history. Hendrix, Rush, Triumph, ZZtopp, Cream...to name a few. Who's your favorite?
After much thought, I have to go with Grand Funk railroad. Mark Farner just has "it" and his whole persona just reeks with raw funk and rock and roll. I loved tose guys. "Foot stompin' music" "We're an American band" "I'm your captain" ...great tunes. There have been alot of great tunes by other power trios I know, but I just love the raw energy and power that GFR posessed. What say you?

Re: Favorite 3 pc. group
Amen, Clint! As far as I'm concerned I learned more about singing from Mark Farner than anyone. By listening to GFR I learned to hold notes out and just tag on a small amount of vibrato at the end. To me that sounds much more soulful than applying too much vibrato, like Stevie Nicks or a ton of other female vocalists. I get told I sing like a guy alot and I take it as a compliment.CCdrums wrote:There have been alot of great 3 pc. power trios that have left a mark in rock and roll history. And Brewer and Schacher? Most energetic, souldriven rhythm section, ever! Caught in the Act totally captured that raw, true sound!
