O'reilley to interview Obama tonight ..

Post by f.sciarrillo »

This is just a note to any of you Obama fans and O'reilley haters (or Obama haters and O'reilley likers). He will be interviewing Obama on his show tonight. I am looking forward to seeing this, because I like O'reilley and do not support Obama :)

Obama did his acceptance speech during the NCAA's 1st big night--there were lots of games in key swing states. I guess he doesn't pay much attention to football.

Ya know. That was a cut and dry part one. Obama flipped on what he said in the past about Iraq and the troop surge. He is sounding more like Kerry everyday. Contradicting everything he says or said ..

What can you do? Last week premarital sex was immoral, and teen pregnancy was a failure of the family unit. Remember the uproar over the teen pregnancy pact at that high-school a month ago? (Proven to be the work of a principal who wanted to be on the news... FALSE) Remember Jamie Lynn Spears?
If there's one bit of history Sarah Palin's made, it's to turn the conservative notion of abstinence, family values, and moral obligation by 180 degrees. Babies ain't no big thang, now!

People really need to realize that these people all belong to the same country clubs and they all lie as well as the other. When it comes to the American political machine, "flip-flop" is not just a foot fashion statement, it's a way of life.

I really don't think I'm voting for either of these guys, honestly. I'm impressed with Palin, but 30 seconds into McCain's speech last night, I was scared shitless:
"I'm grateful to the president of the United States for leading us in these dark days following the worst attack in American history — the worst attack on American soil in our history and keeping us safe from another attack that many thought was inevitable."
Is it really smart to openly align yourself with W in this election? I can't imagine it is. It's not where my vote's concerned.

With Obama, there's too much of an "unknown factor" for me at this point — not to mention his lack of experience, which has always been a problem with me — to cast a vote in good faith. And speaking of voting, Obama's lack of voting record in the Senate just rubs me the wrong way. "Present?" Make a call, dude. Ugh.

I agree with you, Rob. I am still undecided as to who I will vote for as well. I guess we call this a campaign of flip-flops ..

That is the point I was getting at with Obama. He can't even make a vote for what he wants, let alone run the country. As for military might, I think McCain is the one. I admire that him and Palin both have/had sons who served in Iraq. For that they can walk the walk and not just talk the talk, as it seems that Obama is doing.

I really liked the parts about other energy sources. The only question I have is, are we going to enact it or talk it ? I am tired of all this foreign dependency bs, it is time to fend for ourselves and provide for ourselves ..

Anybody undecided should really read up on both candidates' voting records. Campaign promises are one thing, actions are quite another.

You know, if no one was allowed to change their minds the world would still be flat...

But if someone didn't change their minds, you be calling them stagnant or saying it's still the same old bs.

With people looking to capitalize on any mistake, there is no right answer except what said people want exactly how they want it.

I have not seen anywhere officially that indicates that Palin has done a flip flop on her views on sex education and the level it should be taught in the public school system. Also, I'm not understanding how it should be assumed that this point of view should not be considered wrong because another teen ager has become pregnant.

When I was in school....oh, too many years ago...our level of sex education was to talk about the changing bodies, the fact that you can get diseases from sex, and of course, you could get pregnant. We did discuss that there were different types of protection against all of those things but that the best prevention was not to do it. What Sarah Palin has said was this....

"In an Eagle Forum Alaska questionnaire , Palin gave this response to the following question: "Will you support funding for abstinence-until-marriage education instead of for explicit sex-education programs, school-based clinics, and the distribution of contraceptives in schools?" Palin: "Yes, the explicit sex-ed programs will not find my support."

I don't want people coming into my child's school system giving away condoms and showing them how to use them. It just doesn't belong there. Will they learn it on the streets? Yes, probably. But I hope that by communicating ourselves, and teaching morals in our home, our child will seek the proper knowledge that he needs to make the right decisions in life.

So with that said, I agree with Palin. And I do not see a flip flop going on with her views on this.

I think the point trying to be made by Rob is that if that form of home sex-education worked, then she wouldn't be becoming grandma soon. :)

Yes I know thats not completely accurate as an assumption... but man is that a funny twist to this election...

The flip-flop (and I love that this is a Neocon term coined during the last election, and is now being used against them) is not on the part of Sarah Palin. The flip-flop is the appearance that, the very people who insist that teen pregnancy is a symptom of liberal morals and loose parenting are now singing a completely different tune. Gov. Palin isn't flip-flopping, she's just ignoring the conservative notion that good kids with strong parents don't get knocked up, and good for her. The flip-flop is by the so-called conservatives who support her. A week ago teen pregnancy signaled poor parenting and liberal morals. Now it doesn't.
Oddly, hypocrisy has swung America just a bit more to the center. That's cool as hell. It happened with the Larry Craig scandal, too. People had to admit that all men are pigs, even the uber-conservative gay ones. ---.JMS

I guess in some ways I could be a republican. But in all fairness, I am registered Conservative libertarian ... There are things on both sides that I agree with and there are things on both sides that I do not agree with - I am in middle on a few of them. I vote for who I think will do the job better.

I mainly watch O'reilley because when he reports a story you know it's not some made up thing. He researches and backs everything he puts on the air up.
