I'm not taking sides for anyone. I would just like to bring up a few general points. The meat of the argument seems to be that paymenet is not received until several weeks after and by check. Has anyone here ever played a college before? That is how the payment is made for the majority of campuses. Penn State Altoona, Hazelton, Harrisburg, the Main campus, St. Francis College, Towson Univesity, and Loyola College all pay several weeks after, and by check. On top of that, let's not forget some of the clubs that pay the same way (Though not local clubs, but still clubs) such as Padonia Station, Timonium MD. Genovas, Hampstead MD. and Surf Side Seven, Annapolis MD. There is no right or wrong with this. It is just the club's/college's method of payment. What matters is if you get paid or not. If not, then you can complain. I saw a complaint for unsuffecient sound production. At least there is producton! Especially for new and upcoming bands getting their feet wet. Are we aware of how many places that don't provide production at all. Just in local clubs we have The Ferris Wheel, 4-Dee's Lounge, Louie's After Dark, The Highlander, and The Bar. Peter C's didn't even have production until some other band members took it upon themselves to install sound. The fact that production is provided should not be taken for granted by any band. If it is does not suit the band, They should take it upon themselves to bring their own with no complaints.
I don't think that the main point is being paid late. That was one issue that Rob made, but I think his main gripe was about Bad Daze and Club Car agreeing on an amount of $1400, signing the paper work, and then telling him he would not receive the full amount of $1400 due to there being an opening band on that night. A band that Bad Daze didn't contract to play for them. Club Car signed the opener on for the night. If this is the case, then it's a breech of contract and Bad Daze does have a legal issue. Rob is also out money right now because he and his band forked out of pocket money to pay their sound man for the night. The whole situation is a shitty one. It's another case of Corporate America pissing on the man.
Stick to your guns Rob!

i am remaining neutral, but for another point, its not the club's (in general) responsibility to provide for the production nor should it be held against them because the band paid for it. that was THEIR CHOICE to spend the money for production. Nor do i remember them signing a contract. Obviously the complaint was not getting paid the full amount agreed upon the receipt that was turned in. The club can't control how long the opener plays for, the club cant control if the band plays for the full time. And i really cant comment on what else happened because i dont know who or what happened, what side didnt hold up, or both, thats between the club and baddaze and hopefully some sort of agreement can be made and get it all straightened out. We all love to make the money and be fair in all ways, so lets play our music and hopefully we can get great clubs to support our music, after all isnt that we are doing it for? to play for the love of music and entertain?
