Browsing the internet I came across and email address for Layne Staley's(Alice in Chains late singer) mom Nancy. Being a huge Alice fan and Layne being my all time favorite singer I shot an email expressing my appreciation for Layne's work and that I named my son Conner Layne.
Not thinking I'd ever get a response, or at best a bulk thank you email; I got a personal response! She has mailed me a thank you package full of rare Layne Staley swag including childhood photos, his paintings, and info on the annual tribute concert in Seattle!
She's even putting a picture of my son in the annual "Layne Staley Tribute Concert" DVD!! (which this year will host Tantric and other signed bands!!)
We've been emailing each other on a regular basis. Although Layne is gone I think it's awesome that I've struck up a bit of a relationship with his mother!!
