Rob, I PM'ed you, but I want to go for sure. Shots McGee is playing at Ceolta's in Harrisburg that night so I'll be headed there anyway. I'm skipping my cousin's wedding to go to the clinic so I'm sure my family will beat me up. I've seen him in clinic before and was blown away. Gotta see it again!
virgil is a monster. plain and simple. he discussed playing two different rythmic patterns on either side of your body. i.e. a triplet between your left hand and foot (foot on hihat on downbeats, and the a-da with your hand as ghost notes) and rock style beats with your right side (eighth notes on the ride, 2 an 4 on the snare, rock bass pattern) he also did the paradiddle on the left paradiddlediddle on the right. he's nuts, man. talked a little about his practice routine and whatnot. played a couple of songs off of the new planet x cd and did a big old fashioned solo. the guy is amazing, but he must have been tired or something, he messed up ( ) a couple of times here and there and wasn't very talkative. but oh well. he was still awsome
Yea, it was definitley awesome to finally see him and meet him. He really wasn't in a talkative mood though, he must have been tired...I know I would have been!
Amazing to watch him work. You can see the brain engaging on some of the stuff he plays. I had a blast getting to hang with Rob and Randy. Gotta check out the DVD sometime!
