Could be my answer list to a lot of questions:

Brian Futter-Catherine's Wheel

Jagori Tanna-I Mother Earth

Jerry Cantrell-A.I.C.

Chad Taylor-Live

David Gilmour-P.F.

Jeff Beck

Edge-U2

Ty Tabor-King's X

Alex Lifeson-Rush (Mainly from "Hemispheres" on. Has changed several times)

Pete Klett-Candlebox (Lead sound anyway)

Difford/Tilbrook-Squeeze

Todd Park Mohr-Big Head Todd & the Monsters

Curt Kirkwood-Meat Puppets

Elliott Easton-The Cars

John Frusciante-RHCP

Richard Lloyd-Television

John Ashton-Psychedelic Furs

Gary Lee Conner-Screaming Trees

Brian May-Queen

Steve Rotherby-Marillion

Mick Taylor-Stones, etc.

Mick Ronson-Bowie

Plus, the live sound of Mike Turner-Our Lady Peace. MASSIVE!

Guess that's a long "Favourites" list...

Forgot about Brian May of Queen. Awesome sound. On Queen live from back in the 70's or early eighties, the guitar sound on that album was massive. It sounded like 1000 guitars. I love his sound.

Wow... Dave... I don't think I could name that many bassists like that without having some kind of excel spreadsheet...

hmm.. rock...

Modern/Hard Rock:
John Myung - Dream Theater (even though he uses the ugly bongo)

Classic Rock:
Geddy Lee - Rush (growl...)

Hey the bass is a guitar too... a contrabass guitar... ok I'll shut up..

Rob,

Ya. Sad thing is, I left a few off that would fall under the umbrella.

OH...someone has to mention Mark Knopfler....there...older Santana....not
a Journey fan, but Neil Schon....Flexible-to-Skyscraper Vai....Brett Gurewitz-
Bad Religion....need to get back to work...

Yep, its on YouTube. I guess Sammy knows how to throw a party!

There's also a bunch of 1974 videos with them in a garage setting (kinda like the back of the Warner Bros. Presents album) and what appears to be Kirshner's In Concert clips on YouTube. Just type in "Montrose"

I have always liked Motley Crue's sound, but lately Robin Trower.

Check out the Guitar tone on the new Steve Winwood Album, Nine Lives. Really nice warm sound...

Steve Winwood's tone on the Traffic tune, Dear Mr. Fantasy is awesome. For a folky-jazz band, that song really rocks.

With a lot of mention of Motley Crue, from what I've been told, a secret to Mick Mars's tone is using an Eventide harmonizer that is slighty a few cents off.

There are a lot of good mentions in this thread, particuarly Ronnie Montrose and Billy Gibbons.

I'd like to add

- Alex Skolnick (Testament/Savatage/Trans-Siberian Orchestra)
- Robben Ford (solo/Miles Davis)
- Stevie Ray Vaughn
- Billy Joe Armstrong (Green Day)
- Adam Jones (Tool)
- Mike Einziger (Incubus)
- Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth)
- Yngwie Malmsteen
- Rich Ward (Stuck Mojo)
- Johnny Rzenik (Goo Goo Dolls)
- Dan Donegan (Disturbed)
- Bonnie Riatt
- Peter Buck (REM)
- Page Hamilton (Helmet)
- The Edge (U2)
- Alex Lifeson (Rush)
"He's the electric horseman, you better back off!" - old sKool making a reference to the culturally relevant 1979 film.
