It's official .. Hillary Lost !! YEAH !!!
I am not, in the slightest, happy that Obama won. But, I am very happy that the socialist nut case didn't make it .. I knew the idiot wouldn't make it past the primaries ..

Re: I hope
You are also choosing to steal more money from me. If this socialist get the nod, anyone who pays taxes will get clobbered. But then again, liberals and socialists love making people who work pay more taxes.tornandfrayed wrote:I believe in hope and I believe in Barack Obama.

There are other choices in the political spectrum. I'm an independent, somewhat right of center politically, somewhat left of center socially. I'm not a Socialist. I just believe conservatives entrusted their politics to extremists, and their chickens have come home to roost. I stand by my assertion that America is swinging back towards the middle, and may even go a little to the left before it corrects. Our system of government's basic rule is majority rules, not conservatism rules. A majority of us want out of Iraq. A majority of us want affordable healthcare, and we don't give a shit who provides it as long as it's cheap. A majority of us think it's time to drill in Anwar (though it would only benefit American oilcorps... ya really think we're going back to $2 a gallon gasoline ever again?). A majority of us dislike cigarette smoke. Hell, I think Roe v. Wade was a good thing, but I'd support a ban on abortion if the majority of Americans voted for it.
So it's time to stop the whole "liberalism is a mental disease" diatribe. It takes all kinds, not just right-wingers. Without liberalism, there is no conservatism, it becomes totalitarianism. Guess what totalitarian regimes are really good at? You guessed it: propaganda.------>JMS
Do think GW is a conservative? His domestic spending outpaced any liberal president. He is a freaking socialist. His taxation policy has placed more burden on the rich than any other president, creating de facto wealth distribution worthy of any socialist regime going today.
His foreign policy is just blatantly anti-constitutional, but the Congress controlled, by the Dems, lacks the balls to stop passing his spending bills, so it is Congress who is keeping this war going.
In my opinion, GW is a war mongering, anti-Constitutional, big government liberal, with a socialist tax policy.
Obama will be worse, and McCain could be the worstest person in the world.

Logical fallacies are how you know you're hearing propaganda, and not simple rhetoric. There's also ad hominem attacks, straw-men arguments, argumentum verbosem, argumentum absurdium, and a zillion others Aristotle came up with a long time ago.

"He's the electric horseman, you better back off!" - old sKool making a reference to the culturally relevant 1979 film.
The Libertarian Party is running Bob Barr, and the jury is still out on whether he is really a small government libertarian.
Ron Paul is the real thing, ran as a Republican, and I either am going to write in a vote for Ron Paul or vote for Bob Barr when I find out more about him. If he gets Ron Paul's endorsement, he will get most of Ron Paul's supporters, will get millions of votes, and be a deciding factor in this election.

I agree Paul, again Johnny hit the nail on the head. These Democrat haters are losing touch fast.Call the dems idiots or whatever you want but at least they want something different and stand for something DIFFERENT than the current standing party does.I've watched this political debate go on for awhile now here on RP and find it interesting how all the name-callers and Dem haters have'nt written a sensible post yet.All I see is more my George is bigger than your George bullshit.Grow up or don't post. And remember one thing, the same people you call idiots drive your kids to school, save your house from burning to the ground, fight YOUR partys war and yes we pay taxes and the same price for a gallon of gas as you do.If you don't like the Dem candidate DONT VOTE FOR THEM!!But grow up.The next time you pay a cover charge to see a band are you first gonna make sure the members are'nt Dems? Some of you have some fine debate and ideas, thats healthy,no matter which side your on,but at the end of the day we're all neighbors, and most of all AMERICANS like it or not.I'm a veteran and a taxpayer who just happens to play a little Bass on the side.I know most of you and respect all of you,but this nonsense banter and name calling has caused me to log out for the last time.God Bless and keep rockin

That's what he was elected as. They sure as hell didn't portray him as a liberal, and I guarantee you he's not an independent. His policies aren't liberal... a liberal would have spent wads of cash, then raised taxes. He just spent wads of money, and let your kid worry about it.
I can't deny the unconstitutional part, but I will point out that Congress just went to Dem control a year and a half ago. Iraq was a bad idea in 2003, we all were just duped, held hostage by our own fear and an administration who amplified that fear and turned it into a deathgrip on power, a half-trillion dollar Iraqi moneypit, and amazingly, a second term. I can see the Iraq war being defunded by, say, March of next year, especially if the Dems take the Presidency.undercoverjoe wrote: His foreign policy is just blatantly anti-constitutional, but the Congress controlled, by the Dems, lacks the balls to stop passing his spending bills, so it is Congress who is keeping this war going.
I can't honestly say that conservatism is always wrong, I hold some strong conservative beliefs, however, at this point, government would not benefit from moving farther to the right, because that does not represent a majority viewpoint. Gov't must represent the mind of the people, not a select few who think they know what's best. Conservatives are also tying Christianity into gov't, and THIS IS WRONG. That intimates that you can think however you want, as long as it follows Christian values. NO.
No.
Freedom is freedom to think whatever, not freedom to think only Christian-approved thoughts. I think conservatives simply use the "flock" mentality to leverage their power. I've read the Bible cover to cover, and never remember reading anything about America. I don't recall "Thou shalt not kill," having a part that said, "except Islamofascists." Jesus healed the sick for free, and fed the multitude who didn't have the forethought and work ethic to provide their own lunch at the Sermon on the Mount. Jesus was a liberal.
Conservatism is not perfect, and does not have all the answers. Nor does the so-called free market, nor capitalism. Nor does liberalism. The world is NOT black and white, and to simplify it as such only makes sense to those who know little about sense, and stops progress in it's tracks. But, hey, neocons, you "stay the course." It's worked really well so far, don't you think?------>JMS

Sadly, yet another RP member joining the silent MAJORITY of posters who are sick to death of this rediculous political BS on here, a music forum. All sides are guilty.
My question is this. Who are you trying to impress or sway? Why do you do it on a music forum? I guess the intelectual masturbation makes you feel better. You probably alienate and insult more people than you realize.
Yeah, I know its just an Internet forum. However, its a local forum and most of us know each other or are intertwined off the forum in some way. I'll get slammed for this I'm sure, but I seriously would think twice about being involved in projects with some of you. That's a shame, but some of the crap is so insulting it leaves a lasting impression. Religion and politics are too personal...especially on a music forum.
Every once in a while someone gets fed up enough to speak up about it. They get ridiculed, told to skip the post or told to chill out. Meyatch being the latest example. Why dont you chill out and post your political drivel on a political forum. Skipping over topics for whatever reason just doesn't happen. Are your egos and political views that important that its worth it to you to keep people away from a forum that is intended to discuss music? If so...good job. Keep up the good work
