Alice Cooper on Rocky 99.1
Alice Cooper on Rocky 99.1
Anyone else think that as soon as Alice Cooper takes over Rocky 99 around 7 or 8 pm, the music sucks? Everytime I get in the car after 7 and tune into Rocky 99, its horrible music. Is it just me?

He's on 101.5 out of Chambersburg/Wayneboro. I usually catch it Thurs. nights. I like to hear some of the old stuff too. Always did like his "Go To Hell" album...it was kind of a whole story. He was the "scare your mom with what you listen to' back in the day.

I don't like the show either, and it is on 2 of the stations I have preset on my car radio. it cost Kevin his job too. So I have to listen to a station out of Bedford where I swear the DJ just loves to hear himself talk because he goes off on these tangents that only he thinks are funny. Again, I don't like the show, too much obscure stuff on there. Nuf' said.

I'm a big Alice Cooper fan...but, I'm really only into about half of the stuff that he plays. He's a very cool human being but he just doesn't really have the right personality to be a DJ. I seem to remember Dee Snider's radio show which rather trumped Alice.
Worth dying for. Worth killing for. Worth going to hell for. Amen.
The other day Cooper played "Siberian Khatru" from Yes. It's cool listening because of this. Sometimes the songs aired are ones that you don't normally hear on everyday radio. Other than Cooper, I'll check out public radio for something different. I also wish that JP's Closet Chronicles was an all week long event! And Kevin, your voice and on-air personality was always in top form. Have you ever sent audition tapes to a larger market station? I know you'd do well, just curious. Bottom line, I've always loved radio. Just wish the airwaves around here could be served with a fine daily plate of goodies that we all pick. Man, what a confusing and wonderful station that would be! Welcome to WRDM Random Radio!

I like it. Aways a huge mix of music. You don't hear all the mainstream stuff that the other vanilla shows play.
I heard one night in just a few minutes of listening Soil covering Black Betty then minutes later some Yes.
I don't care for the same brain dead radio formats day in and day out. Classic Rock, Dance, Country, Hard Rock. I'd rather there was less of a format and much more flexability.

Thats what I'd like in radio.

I really like alice cooper, ive been a fan of his since childhood. the one thing he should never have done is radio dj'ing. His song selection is great, but he has the charisma of a crowbar. Listening to him ramble on about this artist and that artist makes me want to kill myself, and so i turn the channel because im not ready to die. Alice should call in requests to a dj, and with the free time he has, write a new album, because thats what he's awesome at.

The show sucks...just more shit to make that station even WORSE! I'm sick of the classic rock radio stations that oversaturate this area. While getting my house resided, the contractors had the Alice show on...haha...what a joke. Solution...*insert SIRIUS here*!!!

Kev, you know I love you and everything (and not in a gay way
) but whether or not you like Alice's show, it didn't cost you your job, the "forevers" of the world of corporate radio did. How many stations do your former employers have crammed into that building in Holidaysburg? And how many more do they own elsewhere that they pump a simulcast to? People like those folks continue to buy up stations and "trim the fat;" the fat being living, breathing bodies that happen to be 15-year vets of the biz.
You've simply joined the ranks of "dinosaurs" from an era that's dying out fast thanks to the cash hounds like forever. Canned programming is all they have left because it costs them little to push play on an audio file and they don't have to pay that file benefits.
Hate the machine, not Alice.
(BTW, I love Alice's show ... he's not your traditional "announcer" so to speak, but he's entertaining.)

Hey Kev, I remember our days at Majic, and I was so glad to get out of there (6 weeks without a paycheck when I left!) ! I remember you telling me after you got hired by Forever, that I should Apply there, I generally declined! I now work for a Station in Lewistown, and After 10 years here, I am ready to move on! I am done with Radio! I am looking and have a few leads, on more secure jobs so to speak! Radio will never be the same as it once was! Its all, like Rob said, becoming Satellite crap!

Hmmm...satellite crap? Satellite is the only saving grace for musicians in today's market and for people who like variety. The majority of fm stations play crap from 30-40 years ago, the same 10 country songs on repeat, that cotton candy bulllshit, 30 minutes of commercials, or guys who wear girl jeans and sing like chicks. If it wasn't for satellite the majority of American would probably only know about ten different bands. Satellite opens so many doors for musicians and music lovers. If you're pissed at "the man" for slashing your jobs for one person who can hit play on a computer programmed with songs...well...go apply at satellite stations...it's the future...and you actually get to work a full shift without playing two songs then doing a half hour of commercials...their set lists are endless!

I agree that Satellite may be a saving grace, but its not local! Just like you love having Local people support local music, radio needs local support too! I understand you not liking the format too! Alot of times that is because of Consultants! Dont care for them! I play local country artists on my Station, while I know others do not! I support the local music scene in the area! I am picky about the local stuff I play! Its has to be a darn good recording! The few I play actually recorded in Nashville, and they sound just as good!
Instead of a satellite, I could get my variety from listening to my favorites on CD! Maybe its because I am in radio that I feel this way though!
Commercials pay the bills for local stations too! If no advertising , no money! Less money, the less you can do! By partonizing the businesses, you are supporting the local community! By listening to satellite, youre not to a point! I could go on, but I wont! If you choose to listen to Satellite, thats fine, I wont hate ya for it! I understand where youre coming from though with the music aspect of it!
Rock On!

When I say, "satellite," I'm not referring to Sirius or XM. Different animal.JayBird wrote:Hmmm...satellite crap?
