HELP-We need a name for a blues band VOTE in the polls NOW

Post by Hawk »

SEE the Polls section to help us with YOUR vote.

Thanks, you guys are sooo 8)

Any suggestions ?

We're sticking mostly to all blues.

We decided against the Arthur Itis Blues Band  a JP favorite

Seriously though, we have a few gigs booked and need a name. And we haven't come up with anything "bluesy" sounding. Just thought I'd throw it out there and see what comes up.

Thanks
Hawk

Bushwhack Hopkins

Got it as a subject line in SPAM. Thought it would be an awesome
blues or bluegrass band name. Granted, people will wonder which
on is "Bushwhack", but that gives it a Jethro Tull/Pink Floyd/Skynrd
kind'a thing.

I remember a Bob & Tom bit from a few years ago where they were coming up with blues names for each other. They said the formula was to come up with the name of an ailment or health condition, the name of a fruit or vegetable, and the name of a president, such as Blind Lemon Jefferson. Some of the names they were coming up with were hilarious! Let's see, using that method...

Scabies Kiwi Reagan
Tonsilitis Tangerine Coolidge
Cooties Raisin Bush

J/K of course...Just a little levity until my second cup of coffee kicks in. The Hawks sounds good, but might confuse some people with The Nighthawks...

I still like Arthur Itis Blues Band!

The Trainrobbers

Railtown (band names ending in "town" seem popular now)

Tuscan Red (the official color of the Pennsy Railroad, workers used to steal the paint in quart canning jars, and paint their garages and porches with it in Altoona)

Hammerdown Train (I'm in a decidedly rail-related mood, apparently)

Billy Hawk and the Doves (it just sounds like a blues band)

The Diamondbacks

The Prospects (Bill lives near Prospect Park)

...Just spitballin'... if i had more time, I could come up with something cool, I think.---->JMS

I really like The Hawks. BUT....hate to mention it, but isn't there some kind of unwritten musician rule about naming your band after a band name already used? There is an old blues guy from Canada named Ronnie Hawkins whose band was called The Hawks. Just thought I would mention it. I also really like Tuscan Red and The Prospectors although that does make me think of really old men mining for gold. Not sure if thats the image you're looking for.
