THE STATION special?

Post by JayBird »

Did anyone see THE STATION NIGHTCLUB five year anniversary special..."AFTERMATH". Remember the Great White fire that killed 100 people and left another 200 physically scared for life? Anyway, it was on VH1 the other night. It was sad to say the least. There were survivors on the special that have had over 100 sugeries and will continue to have surgeries for the rest of their lives. Some had fifth degree (burnt to their skull/bones) burns. Many of those people did not have insurance and this special was to raise awareness towards the victims and the families who lost loved ones. There is actually a website where you can go and donate money to these families.

On a side not...Dee Snyder hosted the event and was the right man for the job. The guys from Tesla, from what I understood, were the ones to organize the event...hats off to them. However...most of the performances that were aired...SUCKED except for Gretchen Wilson singing a Heart cover, Twisted Sister doing "We're not gonna take it", and Aaron Lewis of Staind doing "It's been awhile". The other acts...eeek...Tesla was the worst of all...favorite 80's band, but they killed their own songs. Winger...eeek...Kip was ok, but it's been awhile. The dude from Mr. Big...not so big anymore!

Anyway...google the website if you feel like donating. Maybe this was already discussed, but I hadn't seen anything on it.

i agree gretchen wilson nailed the heart tune. i like when the guy from boston and stryper did the one song from boston. i think winger should have lipsynched. musicly they were tight but the vocals were bad.

all in all it was a good show for a good cause. i would like to see something like that arround here next year with local bands. i know sunset strip is all for it.

Sucks VH1 only aired a one hour condensed version of the concert. I'm hearing they're going to release the entire concert on dvd though with all proceeds going to the Station Family Fund. Dee said it best... this isn't a hair metal problem, it's a people problem and it's time to take care of our own.

And a big FUCK YOU to Mr. Jon Bon Jovi, who refused to have any part of the concert because he didn't want his name associated with any thing related to Hair bands.
The person below me enjoys a good spanking.

Jeez, Mr. Bongiovi is RESPONSIBLE for "hair bands!" They didn't exist until "Slippery When Wet" got teenage girls, y'know, slippery and wet. To wit:
Before Slippery:
Motley Crue- Shout At The Devil
Judas Priest- The Sentinel
Talas (with Billy Sheehan)- High Speed On Ice

After Slippery:
Motley Crue- Home Sweet Home
Judas Priest- Parental Guidance
Mr. Big (with Billy Sheehan)- To Be With You

Before:
Studded leather wristbands, blue-black hair, and a pissed-off smirk.
After:
Black lace wristlets, high-lighted perms, and a toothy boyish grin.

Before:
Accept, Saxon, Riot, Raven
After:
Britney Foxx, Cinderella, Winger, Poison

Your honor, the prosecution rests. ------->JMS
