What is the point of your post????
You saw a band you didn't like BFD!!!!
Why come on a forum and trash them?
This is the kind of immature bullshit that has made ALOT of people stop posting here.
I for one am tired of the few KIDS on this site that think that they know everything, and put down everything that they are not into.... trying to show how cool they are
*disclaimer... I do not know anyone in G/E and I have never seen them, just tired of the downward spiral this site has been taking

I'm not into a lot of the material that Green Eggs does either, but they have worked their tails off for over ten years and are now reaping the rewards of the effort they have put in, which is more than many of the people who come here and expect instant gratification because they've been together for six months and played three shows.
I will say this though: Matt Day is one of the best guitarists in Central Pa. Period.

I guess the point of this post wasn't so much as to bash a band or music in general, but to start a topic of bad experiences. I apologize for not making it seem like that -- sometimes my context is taken the wrong way because of the manner in which i communicate. This happens in spoken word as well.tom wrote:What is the point of your post????

Do not disregard me for ANYTHING just because I may be a "kid". I certainly have NOTHING to prove on a fucking forum... especially as to how "cool" I may be. Simple as this -- I don't give a fuck what people think of me -- so why would I try to score cool points on rockpage by blasting a band?
If I were trying to attain cool points on here... wouldn't I want to try to give some people more fucking credit, or agree more in point with some of the elder statesmen of this forum. I'm just trying to bring up discussion and debate -- as fucked up as it may seem
My apologies if this offended anybody. I'm just tired of people using others as a fucking crutch.

I think people need to learn the world is not all daisies and rainbows.
A band obviously didn't make a good impression on the poster and he wanted to tell other people about it. Maybe it will get some people to check them out online and either A) Like them and go see their shows or
B) Help them save money by not paying to see something they do not like.
I may not agree with this whole post, but I don't see anything wrong with it either.

And something to consider, peeps. There is NO such thing as "bad media". I think that they're shit... big fuckin deal -- I saw hundreds of people who loved them. This happens with every thing in the world.
Think of it this way... every piece of media, whether it be cd, movie, tv show ect ect ect goes through the gauntlet of critics. Now, some people out there go off of what critics say -- and there are some who decide to check it out for themselves either way. If anything... sometimes it's beneficial for a band/actor type to be shredded by "somebody who doesn't know anything", because that means that at the end of the day... THEY'RE STILL RELEVANT.

Shit like that happens Barfight. That's 1 of the weird things about being in the music world... You're gonna find some good times, and some bad ones. But, lemme see if I can kick this thread into the direction you intended
I'd have to say that I don't have many bad times when I get out to see a show. There're days when my mind's got something fresh on it from earlier that will linger a bit, but that's usually the reason for getting out to see a show... To find somethin awesome to do to occupy my time. But as far as the bar scene itself, bad times just don't come very often. I can remember one night in particular though
Occasionally, a road trip sounds like a good idea. It's great to get out of this town. Believe me, it should be more often, but sometimes is better than never. So, I occasionally join in the road trips of a local band. Choking Faith has been 1 of the more constant bands for me to roadtrip with
On this 1 such occasion, the show was with fellow Aldo's alumni, Chapter 5, to be played at the Blue Stone in Lavale. Kinda small bar, pretty quaint place. I haven't been actually IN Maryland, minus passing through, for a few years anyway
So, bands are going on, and getting into it, and I'm getting into headbanging, and so on and so forth. Typical metal barroom shit. Well,... Up until this guy who stands at like 6'2" or so grabs me up by my neck and starts thrusting my head up and down. Granted, if someone puts their arm on my back, and headbangs WITH me, yeah. I can deal with that. But not when I've gotta keep checking my balance and at the same time struggle to breathe!
Through the final 2 or 3 sets, this was something I had to deal with. Several others that were down there with me were getting annoyed by this guy. He was nearly tossed out, or nearly got his ass kicked, whichever you see it as. The one time, he was thrusting my head up and down in such a way that he ALMOST threw me into a speaker, but I was fortunately able to regain myself. Yeah, that was fun...
The night ended a few hours later due to a little inconvenient sidetracking and getting lost, and with breaks that were shot... Oh, and remembering that in Maryland, convenience stores can sell ALCOHOL!!! Yes, a little convenience store in BFE had a SHELF full of alcohol on it. Not just beer, but bottles of EVERYTHING!!! Seeing things in various flasks and bottles just made me smile. That was probably the best part of the night overall. Heh
Kinda frustrating for a night out of town trying to relax. It sucks that some people are such assholes when they come out for a drink. I don't mind it if someone's acting goofy and being funny, but when you're there bugging the fuck out of everyone, you might as well just sit your ass down and watch. Granted, I don't blame anyone for wanting to have fun. But c'mon... Don't be a dipshit!

you know, I don't understand why its perfectly acceptable to "critique" national acts, which happens constantly, and it is completely unacceptable to say that a local band is overated. Granted, barfight is not the kind of guy to PC up his opinions.
I've never seen Green Eggs, wether they are any good or not, it sounds like I wouldn't be interested based on their set list.
by the way, the inverse of what paul said is that some of the more popular bands around here may in fact be popular more because of longevity than because of talent. I think this might be true.

I think this was meant to be a guy giving an opinion on a band, nothing more. I might have worded it differently myself, but you can't hang a guy for expressing himself. This is a musician's page. Most of us are EXTREMELY opinionated. Sometimes we may even express those opinions in public. If someone from the band wants to take it personal they will. I think the rest of us can relax.
You think so?TJ Kelly wrote:Besides there is a world outside of metal!
I guess my being a fan of Chevelle, The Exies, Rage Against The Machine, Deftones, The All American Rejects, Weezer, The Beatles, The Doors, Bad Brains, Earth Crisis, Linkin Park, Bush, India.Arie, Oasis, John Mellencamp, Bruce Springsteen, and various other acts wouldn't show a world outside of metal...
but then again, what do I know? I'm just a "know-it-all metalhead".
Again... It was an opinion, given to create discussion because rockpage has been slower than a fucking orgy for the elderly, and you're all getting fucking butthurt because somebody has a negative opinion. Get over it.
Sanchez said it best... "The world is not all rainbows and daisies".

Barfight IS entitled to his opinion....BUT..
I don't see the point in personally tearing down another band.
some food for thought... The band in question works with a large management group and I'm sure word gets around. Good luck trying to score a gig at any of the clubs they are involved with, or trying to land a gig with a band known to them.
I already know, you have too much INTEGRITY to lower yourself to being involved with 'corporate bs', or god forbid, a band that made money for playing

I'm sure word gets around also, that's the nature of the beast -- and I've said it before... there is absolutely NO bad media. If by some chance, my opinion on rockpage gets any further than rockpage -- and into the thoughts of the management crew that handles this or any band, I'm sure they will shrug this off as "another asshole's opinion", and that's fine by me. Simply put -- just based off the general consensus of the posters in this thread ALONE. I'm seriously outnumbered in my assessment of this band, and I couldn't be happier for that.tom wrote:Barfight IS entitled to his opinion....BUT..

I've said it before -- I appreciate DIY bands much much more than bands who make a killing doing what they are doing... to an extent. A lot of times, especially in the genres of music that I listen to... bands that make a shit ton of money for their music, have sold out. There is currently NO large market for Hardcore/Punk/Metal in this country. Do I hate Linkin Park for exploding as a rap/rock hybrid band and taking advantage of everything they could get? No. Do I hate Nickleback because they're making millions for rock music? No... I hate them because they're horrible. However, if a band does it without selling out -- more power to them.
