Noisy Trem Springs!! The 5 minute fix...

I have been noticing that my trem springs were ringing out slightly after a quick palm mute. It was an annoying sound, so here's my remedy:

Get 3 cotton balls, the kind that your woman uses between her toes while painting them.

take one and stretch it out to about the length of the spring, and twist it up.
Stuff it in as far as you can, and use a 2.5mm allen wrench to drive it up through the whole way.

This dampens them enough so it's not as bad. And a plus is that it doesn't inhibit the springs release or return.

Another thing is that all you have to do is remove the trem cover if you have one. This can be done without removing the springs.

Some of you may have known about this or something similar. I've heard of people using small diameter tubing as well.

It might be good for recording also, just to keep it quieter.
