If you could assemble
...your dream band lineup to watch and hang out with for a night, who would be in it?
Rules
1. No, you can't be in the band.
2. Lineup should be at least drums, bass, 2 guitars, and lead vocals. Keyboards are optional.
3. Lineup can be living or dead, local or national.
Here's mine.
Drums: Tommy Lee. I'd just like to hang out and talk to him.
Bass: Mike Inez. He's played with Alice In Chains and Ozzy. I'd like to pick his brain about playing with Sean Kinney and Randy Castillo, 2 of my all-time favorite drummers.
Guitar: Zakk Wylde. My favorite guitarist. I'm a huge fan of his sound, soulful playing, and wicked pick harmonics.
Guitar: Jeff Healey. This blind white boy blows 99% of sighted guitarists off the map. I've had the fortune to see him live, and he's just downright scary.
Lead Vocals: Layne Staley. The late AIC frontman had one of the most unique and soulful voices that I've heard, and one that still haunts me to this day.
Discuss.

Videos destroyed the vitality of rock and roll. Before that, music said, "Listen to me." Now it says, "Look at me."

You don't shoot a man in the dick!
Band A
Vocs: Dio & Peter Steele
Guitar: Herman Li
Guitar: Jimi Hendrix
Bass: Les Claypool
Drums: John Bonham
Keys: Sarah McLaughlin
I couldn't figure out who would do the lead work between Li and Hendrix. They can definitely duel it though. They're both absolutely amazing, although COMPLETELY different in style. Let them figure it out. Dio and Steele are an interesting combination in that their vocals are opposite range. Claypool plays bass better than most people do anything, and Bonham is just classic that you can't compete with. McLaughlin, while totally different to the rest, is damn decent on piano/keys, and can throw a set of vocals that could really twist for the kill
Band B
Vocs: Myke Long & Jessicka
Lead Guitar: Dave Mustaine
Rhythm Guitar: Lance Arny
Bass: Cliff Burton
Drums: Tommy Lee
Keys: Ben Moody
Myke Long is just brutal. End of your face, end of story. Plus, he's entertaining to watch, especially when he gets running around and jumping on stuff, or even in the mosh pit. Hail to the local heroes! Jessicka does vocals of any sort from soft and whispy to in-your-face and trashy. Mustaine goes all over the place while Lance Arny is a really technical guitarist. With Cliff on bass, how could ANY band go wrong! Tommy Lee on drums would add thrust into the sound. Ben Moody plays mostly any mainstream instrument pretty well, but keys would make quite an interesting twist

I am going the All-female angle.
Drums: Linda McDonald - She plays in Phantom Blue and a Maiden Tribute band, The Iron Maidens.
Piano/Vocals: Vanessa Carlton - She's an amazing talent.
Fiddle/Mandolin/Vocals: Martie Maguire - She's in the Dixie Chicks.
Electric Guitar: Jennifer Batten - At one time she held the Guinness record for fastest female guitarist, not sure it's still true.
Acoustic Guitar/Vocals: Linda Perry - Former 4 Non Blondes Vocalist turned producer.
Bass: Sean Yseult - formerly of White Zombie, now with Rock City Morgue.
Lead Vocals: Shelly Fairchild - I love her, and I'm not just talking about her musical telent.
I am not sure what musical genre they would fit into, but I imagine some seriously complex arrangements and AMAZING vocals.

I can't really answer this question, because in my experience, putting a bunch of great musicians together on a stage or in a room doesn't always = great music. All of the classic bands who have gone down in history as being great had some sort of intangible chemistry. Many bands had what would seem to be slight line up changes, and then ended up not living up to the classic lineup. Putting all of these musicians together may yield some amazing music...and it may also yield audioized dogshit. It's hard to tell.
Sorry to be so analytical and most likely miss the point and fun of making a dream lineup. LOL
