Just curious, but what's the oldest bit of gear in everyone's collection? Do you use it regularly, or is it just a collectors item?
Nothing too impressive here. I have a Fender Japanese Strat that's 25 years old and gets used daily. Also a few Electro Harmonix stomp boxes from the 70s, but those are mostly collectors items since they are pretty noisy.

My Jacksons are all 1993, 94, and 98. My Rack is also mostly from 1992-94.
Not really Vintage, by the definition, but everything I have is out of production by many years.
When I was building my Rack I purposely went out of my way to get older stuff for the sound I was going for.
This shit's like fine wine, only a matter of time before it gets better.
1993 King V Pro

1994 King V Pro body, with a Rhoads RR3 neck

1998 King V III

1992Marshall 9200 Head / 1993 ADA MP2 / 1996 DOD EQ / 1995 Boss MT-2

I have a 1976 natural Fender Starcaster that I bought new for $495.
I only get it out once a month to look at.

I also have a 1968 Vox Cry Baby wah pedal and 1975 Heil Talk Box.

...Oh, the freedom of the day that yielded to no rule or time...
I have a '48 Rex lap steel... I also have a '48 Oahu Hawaiian acoustic, those are the oldest, I think. I also have a '58 Supro Artist Deluxe lappy, a '55 Oahu lappy, and an early 60's Silvertone model 1482 amp.
Most of my stuff isn't really what I'd call vintage, it's what I'd call... old junk.------------>JMS

1972 Fender Musicmaster bass. It's a blast to play with the short-scale neck. Currently, I can't get any sound of it though. One of these days, when I have the time, I'm going to take it to a tech.

1990 Hamer, Steve Stevens, with the marble laquer finish an all....... Not vintage but it is cool. Anybody wanna buy it?
it's funny how people who don't play guitar drive up the price of OLD guitars. Not saying they (the guitars don't deserve their place), for instance,
" how much for the First Act guitar?"
Guitar Dude " Well that's about 1500 bucks that was only distributed through WALmart ya know."
Same thing happened with the ole harmony, and Tel-Rays. Not to be negative on this, it is amazing what someone with money will pay for something, and that goes for a turd that looks like Jesus.
Keep an eye on your turds

LMAO
That's funny but true, Jules. Personally, I buy instruments to play them. If someone wants to have a collection of instruments that they never use, more power to them though. It was like the EVH guitars we were discussing a few weeks ago. They're probably being bought up by lawyers, doctors, and die-hard Van Halen fans. I can't picture working musicians buying those, but hey, whatever is what I say. LOL

The oldest stuff I have, I don't really know the age of.
I have a 5 string fretless bass made by a builder named Harry Fleishman in the early 80s

I have a fretless jazz bass copy that looks to me like its from the late 70s

I have a Rickenbacker 4003 made in 1989.

I have an Accoustic 2x15 cab that was probably made in the early 80s
I have a Peavey Mark IV bass amp head that was probably made in the late 80s

Re: What's your most
This thread is awesome!
Everyone show your axes, drums, whatever, Vintage or not.
I love this shit.
Mitch, nice Fretless! That Ric is nice too, you should keep that one.
Jeff, that's an awesome Jackson, and my fav. color, White.

thanks guys, I don't intend on getting rid of any of the axes pictured.
That 5 string fretless isn't as great as it should be. You can tell in that picture that it doesn't have a headstock. What you can't tell is that it wasn't originally headless. The conversion is less successful than it could have been. One of these days I'm going to make a headstock for it. The bridge has also been replaced. The case has some fire damage, and there's some bubbling of the laquer in places, I guess the case caught fire somehow when the bass was in it, and that's why the headstock was cut off. I've been in contact with the builder about it before, unfortunately he says his records from the time period it was built are basically non-existant.
There is a hand drawn wiring diagram in the control plate made by John Starrett, who according to Harry Fleishman is the designer of the fanned fret system
I suspect it looked something like these when it was new

if anyone is interested his website is http://www.fleishmaninstruments.com
now all this talk about it has got me thinking about it again, time to take it out of its case, and maybe try to talk to Harry somemore.
Joe, if you're interested I can bring it tomorrow and show you.

lonewolf, love the Starcaster. What do the 5 knobs do? Volume and tone for each pickup plus master volume?

Only thing thats missing is the warranty card (it was sent in back when my great uncle bought it =)
Any time you see me playin out, or hear a recording or something, its thru one of these two amps.
