Pa systems Update?
Pa systems Update?
Wanting to update our Pa & Mon. system, but do not want to spend an aweful lot of cash. What would be are best route if all there is, is one acoustic guitar and two Mic's? Music sets consist of all acoustic covers. Sing loud but not to punchy. Also might be adding a third mic and another guitar. God help me cause I'm electronically an idiot when it comes to these sort of things. Anybodys help would be greatly appericated. Thanks!!!
I have become comfortably NUMB!!!

If you generally stay in one spot and don't move around, I recommend that you get a headphone distribution box and use Sennheiser MX400 or MX500 (with integral volume control) earbuds for monitors. These earbuds are cheap, sound great and allow you to hear more of what's going on in the open air (as opposed to the sound rejecting types like Shure E series which put you in another world). I have found that you can hit note pitches better when using in-ear monitors. If you get a mixer with a selectable headphone out, you can get a 3 way cable and 3 MX500 earbuds and voila, a 3 way in-ear monitor system.
If you don't like that idea and you don't plan to use your existing speakers as monitors, Galaxy Audio has improved their Hot Spots tremendously. Although they are primarily for vocal monitoring, they should handle acoustic guitar as well.

You can pick up open box Hot Spots at MF for $100 shipped or locally for about $120.
As far as PA...what system do you have now? What is the biggest room you expect to play in?
