To go see Rush on June 25th at the Post Gazette Pavilion!!!!!

Tickets are already on sale.

And Keith, I know you prolly hate them.... don't waste a post.

Last time when I saw them on the 30th tour, I'd say it was the best show I've ever seen.

Yep, I've seen them several times and they are, undoubtedly, the best
live band I've ever seen.

I've even had friends go along who weren't necessarily fans and they've
said the same thing.

That being said, and as much as I'd love to go, I'll pay $90 a ticket to
see no one. Maybe, MAYBE! The Beatles, Zep or Who if it were all
the original members...and since THAT isn't happenin'...

Awesome Wax!!!!!

I've seen Rush many times (I'm not even sure how many). One time a buddy and I even drove to New Haven Connecticut just to see them.

I love all the older music (up to Signals), but really can't get into the newer stuff.

Agreed...

I was happy to hear a LOT of older stuff at the 30th anniversary show. I'm afraid that the show in June may have a lot of the stuff from the new album they're putting out.

Tom, if you decide to get tix let me know. You can get in the convoy of cars going with us. Beer always tastes better to me in a large parking lot with friends.

I like everything from Rush's career, though I do have a special spot for the real early stuff when they were just a Led Zepplin clone trying to find their own voice...albeit, it was clear that they were a superior Led Zepplin clone. I've always thought that John Rutsey was a highly underrated player, but I think that Neil Peart just brought that intangible chemistry that makes Rush what they are.

I have big a huge Rush fan from day one. I have seen Rush several times in concert throughout their career from the early 70's up to several years ago when I got to see them at the Molson Amphitheatre in Toronto on Canada Day for a sold out hometown show. All I can say is they were terrific. Always a great live band. No opening act and they played for 3 hours including the entire first side of the 2112 album. We lucked out and got seats that ended up costing us $18.00 each U.S. Just to see Neil Peart play live is worth the price of admission alone. The Molson Amphiteatre is a great place to see a show and I have seen more concerts there than anywhere else.

I've seen hundreds of live shows. Rush was the best, musically and technically. If you haven't seen them, you should. Enough said.---->JMS

I agree. Early Kansas live with the original lineup would be the other band that would be a close second.

How is this for a coincidence. While I was writing my reply to this post, the brand new Rush tune called Far Cry from their new Snakes & Arrows album started to play on progrock radio. The new album comes out in May and this song is mix of very heavy progressive with lots of keyboards overlays and a melodic vocal line. Cool tune.

Can you still buy tickets at Kauffmans/Macy's? They used to be a Ticketmaster outlet. Been a long time since I bought any there. Any input would be great! Thanks.

I know that the Giant Eagle Video in Johnstown is a Ticketmaster outlet. You could call them and place an order on a credit card and maybe they mail them to you or have them at the will call at the venue box office.

Their phone number is 814-266-9591

Tix went on sale last Sat. I nailed the site the second tix went on sale. I put a search in for two tickets. There was nothing in the first three sections. What the fuck? Anyway, yes, Rush is an excellent live band. The only thing I don't like is there are a handful of songs they've been playing for twenty some years. I wish I could make up the set list.

I was just on the Ticketmaster website for Rush at Post Gazette Pavilion and I noticed something they do now. They have set prices for tickets and, then, they also have auctions for prime seats. For Rush, winning bids were $260 per seat.

Yea, I saw that. Major bullshit. I guess $81.00 plus the killer charges aren't enough. Screw it. I'm going to see Heaven and Hell and Megadeth.

Rush puts on an amazing show, especially the theatrics of the light and sound. The new tunes sound pretty good from what I heard on their website the other day. My drummer has been jonesing to go to this show... and I was going to go with him.. but damn if it doesn't turn out to be on my first wedding anniversary.... I'm doubting if my wife would understand. Maybe next time.

Their first album will always be my favorite. It's "nuthin fancy" balls out rock. I love it. I like "Hemispheres" & "2112" too, but that first self-titled album is the shit!

I really don't see the "Led Zep clone" thing though. I'm a huge Zep fan and I never even thought that Rush sounded anything like them. I always thought that Rush was pretty unique.

If I remember correctly, I read an article years ago that talked about Alex's style and his influeneces. He based a lot of it according to Led Zep, but I agree - I don't think they sound alike at all - which is good because I really can't stand Led Zepplin (I know that will offend some of you - let's not hijack this thread over it please).

Anyway - Fly by Night, Hemispheres, 2112, Caress of Steel, Farewell to Kings, Permanent Waves and of coure: RUSH were all fantastic LPs. I've talked to a lot of people who said that they sold out - personally I think their style changed and because of that they took in a whole new set of fans but and the same time play a good enough mix at their concerts to keep old and new fans happy.

Did anyone read Neil's book "Ghost Rider"? I personally hated it and put it down after reading about 2/3s of it.

I've seen Rush in concert too - on my R30 DVD among others. Chief is right - Neil Peart alone is worth any Rush show. Those guys are immaculate & have a sense of humor as well. I must admit, I lean towards their older stuff as my favorites. But they are truly "new world men" - modern day heroes & legends at the same time. What a "RUSH"!!!!
