Guitar Tech around here

Post by floodcitybrass »

Can anyone recommend a good guitar tech to adjust action, intonation, repairs, etc.
I was hoping to stay local. (Johnstown, Northern Cambria, Altoona).

I agree with MJB: TERRY, enough said!!!! I just recently had my Carvin set up by him and it's like a whole new instrument. He actually sets up the instrument. I've taken guitars and basses to "techs" who did nothing but raise and lower the bridge saddles. Hell, I can do that myself. Terry will get your action and intontation perfect. Highly recommended.

Not to sound like a broken record, but here's another vote for Terry at Guitars 'n Stuff. He is to guitar techs what Tiger Woods is to golfers. Everybody else is playing for second.

PS - When you stop in, try to convince him to move somewhere less Deliverance-ish. Then again, he might get a lot of business from inbred kids with banjoes.

Dude, you should seriously try tuning your banjo. I tune my banjo all the time. Just don't let your mom catch you doing it.

I know it's been said already but Terry is the man. Can't believe the difference after he sets them up. Really nice guy too. Rob won a contest one time for going the longest without playing his banjo.

I have to put a vote in for Terry also.

Although... I about hit a telephone pole goin down that stupid road, nothing but a sheet of ice when I went down. And do it before summer, because that road is a complete fucking joke. If he wants more biz, he needs to think bout getting outta his garage (no overhead) and find something close to home for him with small rent. Even if he up'd his mods and repairs a little bit I would still go to him exclusively.

Indeed. Paul @ Big Head does killer paint work. I've seen several guitars that he's painted and all were very very impressive.
