I doubt Ill watch the Grammys.
I cant imagine being a drummer and not being a fan of the Police. Stewart Copeland was/is an innovator. "Message In a Bottle" is such a fun, challenging song to play. I only hope I do it justice.
I will pay the ticket price if they do tour....50 years old or not. Musicians are like fine win if you know what I mean. Saw Sting at BJC last time he was here. Wanna to talk about smokin! Whew!

I agree with the thread title....It would be the only reason I'd START watching the Grammies!

right on, i'll watch the begiining just for that any day of the week. any predictions as to what song they'll perform? you just know it's gonna be rockin. a band like the police just won't give a lak-luster performance. i can't wait! hopefully NOT ROXANNE. THAT WOULD BE A BUMMER. when they have so many goodys in the bag to choose from.

This is the 30th anniversary of the bands first single "Fallout"
I would highly doubt they would play that song.It would be great if they did.
But sadly they won't.
But I'm still going to watch that segment and then change the channel.
Let's hope for a reunion of sorts.
There's unfinished business with this band.
Cheers!

If you like The Police sound, check out this band from the early 80's called Novo Combo. Excellent drummer, Michael Shrieve from Santana, Automatic Man, HSAS, Pat Travers Band, and many other bands, plays drums in this band. All the musicians in this band are really good players and singers.
They had a hit song called Up Periscope that was heavily influenced by The Police sound and is a very cool tune. City Bound was another single they had.
Here is a live concert of them from 1981 you can listen to for free.

i was a little disaoppointed. i was pulling for NOT ROXANNE but oh well, it was good to see them all together, i was thinking they would do a little more, hoping, the way they were hyping it up.when i heard roxanne i cringed a little bit. man does anybody remember how much they used to play that on the radio. sting can always keep it fresh though. i think sting into taking good care of himself with yoga and stuff, it showed. hes in his 50s i bet.
i was laughing when i seen my first post. sapo

Exactly why I don't care much about the Grammy's anymore... at least what gets televised. I was looking forward to seeing one of my all time favorite bands open it up, but I got busy starting on my taxes and f&#$-ing missed it!ToonaRockGuy wrote:I don't know what was scarier about the Grammys..
That the Black Eyed Peas won for "My Humps"...
or that the Pussycat Dolls were nominated.
The Police sounded pretty damn good, I thought. Roxanne wasn't my first choice of song, either, but it makes sense from a historical perspective. They've always done it with an extended dub jam when they do it live, and the "condensed dub jam" sounded spiffy.
The tour is now official, too. The closest date announced so far is New York. Ticket prices start at a pretty decent $50.
