Barker Amps

Post by bassist_25 »

I've been hearing some things about these guitar amps from various people. I was down in State College today, so I thought that I'd stop into Alley Cat and check one out. The builder plugged one in and let me hear it.

I was definitely impressed! I'm a pretty new school guy when it comes to guitar and bass technology, but as far as simple tube combo design goes, this amp brought the goods. It's warmer than say a Twin Reverb and less aggresive, so it would be great for someone looking for a warmer tone. It broke up very nicely, but it still was clean and distinct. It had an open midrange that would probaby make it sit nicely in a mix. If anyone's in to old tube stuff like Twin Reverbs, Voxs, Traynors, etc., I'd definitely say to check out this amp by a local builder.
