Why do I torture myself and watch them? That might have been the worst offensive line preformance I have ever seen.

I was thinking the same thing today. In reality this team has a couple of needs and this season might have been a good thing once you look back at it a few years from now (kind of like getting Roethlisberger from going 6-10 with Tommy Maddox at QB).undercoverjoe wrote:Why do I torture myself and watch them? First, they need a true shutdown corner. They don't have one (Ike Taylor showed promise but regressed) and haven't for a while. They also need some help on the o-line. I think the Bus made the line look better than it may have been. I remember during their 3 game skid last year the line got blasted for sucking as well and they seem to be playing at that level.
Plus this season might light the fire under Cowher's ass if he is thinking retirement, which would be a good thing for Pittsburgh as well.

Ben should have lost his strating job a long time ago. If any of us were performing this poorly at our jobs, we'd be told about it by management. Just look at the pass Charlie completed under pressure on the play Ben had to leave because of that sack, Ben can't make that play this year.
Cowher, seems to me to have lost a lot of his passion. I think he's definitely leaving after this season.

I don't think it's Ben's fault. No quarterback could play well under the pressure the Ravens were turning on. Also, Ben did make a pass like that last week at the end of the Browns game for the win.rreihart wrote:Ben should have lost his strating job a long time ago. Yeah, IMO you can't point any fingers @ Ben this week. I mean, come on, 9 sacks? There is not a QB in the league that would have had a good game against that defense. Not with being as poorly coached as the Steelers were this week anyways.RobTheDrummer wrote:I don't think it's Ben's fault. I think this is Ben's first year as a true starting rookie QB and he is fianlyl going through the growing pains most 1st round rookie QB's go through when a team is being built around them. Other than Hines the receivers are totally unreliable with Wilson still performing as a decent 3rd receiver. They need a second and neither Holmes nor Washington are making me a believer. Hartings has been getting his ass kiked this year. The O-line just looks slow to me. For comparison, watch Denver play. They are light and quick with really good hands - kind of like the O-Lines that Grimmy was in as one of the original hogs! That's what is sad about this year. The fact that Russ Grimm's line has been one of the worst points on that team. You can't expect Willie Parker to run up the middle if nothing is there. I mean, Emmit Smit racked up all those yards early becuase he was running through massive holes up the middle and running through safties. The Bus was basically like another blocker who had sick footwork whcih is why he will be ahall of famer. Take that away and you go nothing! My vote is keep Faneca and start drafting quick talent out there like the dude the Jets drafted from Virginia this year.
And take some advice from the Ravens and change the philosophy on pass defense especially now with Polamalu out. Way too many passes are caught in the soft spots in zone coverages and no one is fooled by the blitzing anymore!
The brighest spot has been Davenport. Great pick up.

The offensive line seriously looked like a turnstile at rush hour.
5-11 is a good record for a high draft pick.
Of course the next win will come at the expense of the Browns.
"With the 4th pick of the 2007 draft....The Pittsburgh Steelers take Some defensive end with a instinct for pass rushing ala Julius Peppers!"
Alright!
Cheers!!!!!!!!

I have to admit that yesterday was definitely one of the worst O-Line
displays I have ever seen. Ben didn't have a chance against a defense
like the Ravens' (definitely one of the league's best). Cowher needed
shot for not attempting field goals to at least avoid the shutout! Less
than two minutes left in the game and 4th and 17 to go, come on! Kick
the damn ball and go home! I remain a loyal fan, but God this is hard to watch when a team has that much talent and looks that bad. Looking forward to next year.

I've said it 1,000,000 times ... Manning does not have the nuts to win an important game. When it's all on the line, he loses it — every time. Anytime there is pressure, he folds. He's the biggest choke artist in the NFL, and I am tired of his ass getting kissed week in and week out.RobTheDrummer wrote:Look out Peyton.

As far as coaching is concerned, Cowher has thrown in the towel this year. he's gonna be done with the Steelers after this year. His wife is already living in NC and he's gonna go there when the season is over. They are talkin about him possibly coaching a NC college team next year. With that in mind, what coach would you want to see in Pittsburgh?

I think it's pronounced Dierdork. LOLwitchhunt wrote:Dierdorf is an ass. At one point in the game he says "Baltimore's ability to gain positive yardage offensively is really hurting Pittsburgh". Well, duh.
I hate that guy,I have always hated that guy.Turn down the tube and turn up the radio.

I agree with that 10000000%. I think he's nothing more than a vagina in a big game. Look @ the Steelers game last year. At least 75% of the time when he got hit, the next couple of passes were just step back and save my ass, get it the hell out quickly and erratically.BadDazeRob wrote:I've said it 1,000,000 times ... Ravens, if they come like they did at the Steelers, will smash the Colts, and I will love seeing Peyton getting his ass kicked (even though I detest the Ravens badly).
