The PRICE of Gas

Post by slink »

This is something that affects us all. The price of Gas. In Altoona at Sheetz its $2.19 / Gal. Its been that for quite a while even though the price of oil has come down since it first hit $2.19.

I've noticed Sheetz, when they put in a new store they lower the price of gas trying to eliminate the competion. Now that they control the gas market in Altoona they are not lowering the price even though oil is getting cheaper. If oil prices were going up you can bet they would be raising prices.

So please tell me, what is the price of gas in your area? Are there gas bargains out there?

here in MD there was one gas station that had it at 2.15. But it keeps bouncing back and forth between 2.15 and 2.19 a gallon

Gas in Houtzdale was $2.09 for about a month and a half, but it since has gone up to the standard $2.19. I've also noticed that they've been watering down the gas. I normally would get gas at Uni-Mart in Houtzdale, but I decided to gas up at Sheetz the other day as I was leaving school. My car was missing the whole way home.

Sheetz doesn't have a gasoline refinery, so they have no control at all over the price of oil vs. gas... They just resell gas, and sometimes at a loss to get people in the door. Just because the truck has a Sheetz logo/advertisment on it just means that they have pull because they resell a lot of gas.

Your gripe is really with the oil companies, not any local convenience stores.

Ron, I never said that Sheetz controled the price of oil, I said that they lower their gas prices to try to rid themselves of competition and that once they control a market then they raise prices and keep them up. My wife was in Virginia a month ago and gas was under $2/gal.
I could see us paying a few cents per gallon extra because of our location but not 20 or 30 cent/gal. more.

I've noticed the price is STILL at $2.19 A gallon, and I keep hearing the Price for a Barrel raw Crude is Dropping, SO Why WON'T Sheetz drop his Price for a Gallon of Gas???
Simple There is NO set price on how much these Companies like Sheetz can Charge for a gallon of Gas, if Sheetz wanted to Charge $8.00 a Gallon he could do that and it would be Perfectly legal,So Sheetz is going to hold the Town of Altoon Hostage and keep the price of a gallon of Gas at $2.19 a Gallon, Until some Fine Consertive Jackhole Finds a way to try to jack up the Price again to over $3.00 a Gallon and use what they did from the very Start Scare tacticswe are Paying a 20% Fear Price, cause we were told that there is NOT going to be enough Oil,
I was told by a Stonch Consertive who Completely buys into this Propaganda, and he informd me that the Market sets the price and I TOTALLY DISAGREE ......Caues if the parket set the price the Price would be the same all over the Country, so when I made that statemet to him it ended our Conversation
as I was getting fuel at Sheetz onetime there was a Disgruntled gentleman getting gas at the same time, and he made this Statement
"The price of oil could be $3.00 Dollars a Barrel and STILL the price would be over $2.00 a gallon here.

Does anyone notice that when the price for crude drops, ours stays the same but, if crude goes up, our price jumps with it?
