Hello Everyone,
Here is the recap of the June 22 edition of Q94's weekly local music program, "The Backyard Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WBRX 94.3 and WBXQ 94.7.
Thanks to Mike and Tim of Chapter 5, Cheeze from Suicide Switch, Carl from By Any Means Necessary, Rug and Clete from Inversion, and Bob from The Grimm for being guests on this week's program. All these musicians and their bands are members of the Blair County Collective (BCC), an association of area bands who united earlier this year to work for positive changes on this area's music scene. Thus far, the BCC has already organized several benefit concerts (including an upcoming American Cancer Society benefit Aug. 9 at the Cresson Sportsmen's Club); and they recently obtained a facility to stage all ages shows. Future plans for the Collective include a fanzine, compilation CD, organizing more shows, and outreaching to other collectives and alliances to help each other's member bands break into new regions. For more information about the Blair County Collective, visit their website, www.bccollective.com.
In addition to our discussion, we played songs from six of the member Blair County Collective bands: Chapter 5, The Grimm, Suicide Switch, Choking Faith, By Any Means Necessary and Inversion. We also premiered new songs from Num, Elysion Fields, Von Kull and D-Cell. In all, a very informative and rocking program!
