Hanging it up.
Hanging it up.
Well, the time has come for me to say goodbye to House of Cain. My wife and I are expecting our first in the next few weeks, and I decided that at this point in my life, music is going to have to take the backseat (for now). Best of luck to Jason and Greg, who are both really great dudes that deserve someone that can give them their full attention. I think we had a pretty good run while it lasted, and hope that in the future we can work together on a hardcore polka project. Thanks for everything, Hell Up!!!

Knowing you Mikey it will be a temporary thing and rightly so...your first child, the greatest joy in the world.......and for me playing music (in a band) was the second greatest rush, the car and bike came in third.
stop down ....the wife might need some wings the night before!!LOL

First off, HUGE congrats. Having a kid is the greatest thing ever.
My boy's now 9. I gave it up not too long after he was born because of time
constraints, trying to find some normalcy, etc. But, after things settle in
and you get used to new scheds and routines, you'll find ways to make time
somewhere through the years.
Every so often something comes along and I think there's no way I'm going to
have time to keep playing out, but when "stuff" settles, I'm still squeezing it in.
Guess it's like others have said; don't sell your gear! At least not the best of
it (I did sell a REALLY old tweed Fender Bassman. Best guitar amp ever. Wish
I would've had someone to talk more sense into me).
Anyway, congrats again and enjoy. They get big fast.

as a band working parent it is hard to take care of things and play, I took some time off when my kids were little and did the once a month thing just to blow the dust off the gear. but that time goes fast my friend before you know it the kid is a teen and you are jammin with your kid.. good luck and congrats on the little one
I took a musical break to be a single father and work. I would do jam nights and some fill in gigs every few months just to keep my chops up. Of course, I had been playing non-stop for 26 years up to that time and the break was overdue. When my daughter was in high school, I decided it was time to play again and I was excited to get back out and have been playing steadily for 5 years again and having a blast. When I was not in a band, I really missed the playing aspect but not all the other nonsense you have to deal with.
Congratulations and best wishes to you and your family!
