thats about all we got anymore..

United States sports - recent past..

U.S. Baseball - Eliminated in World Baseball Classic
U.S. Basketball - Bronze medal in last Olympics, we owned Basketball
U.S. Soccer - Ranked 8th in the World (actually good) - lost today to CZE
U.S. Hockey - Eliminated in Qtrs of Olympics - no gold since 1980

For the U.S. to suck so bad in Baseball and Basketball now should make Americans sick! those are our 2 premiere world sports, and we're allowing South Korea and Argentina to rapefuck us!

U.S. Soccer has 2 games left in World Cup group E called "the group of death" - Italy on Saturday, and Ghana the week following.. if the U.S. can muster a win vs Italy, and a tie vs Ghana - they should make the "knockout" phase .. but they would likely face defending World Cup champion, Brazil in the round of 16..

What needs to happen for U.S. to advance in World Cup.

U.S. MUST beat Italy (3 points)
Czech Republic MUST beat Ghana (3 points)
Italy MUST beat Ghana (3 points)
Czech Republic MUST beat or tie Italy (3 or 1 points)
U.S. MUST beat or tie Ghana (3 or 1 points)
U.S. MUST have Higher Goal differential than Italy

if all that happens...

Czech Republic ..... 7-9 points (Advance)
United States .... 4-6 points (Advance)
Italy ................ 3-5 points (Knocked-Out)
Ghana ..............0-1 points (Knocked-Out)

They were just introducing soccer as a sport in schools when I was in Jr. High, in the early-mid 70's... I was actually sort of good at it, which was completely out of character for me. People actually picked me for it in gym class.
You'd think I'd like it. I don't. It still bores me to tears.----------->JMS

I really enjoyed playing soccer back in high school. It was alot more fun to play than baseball. Constant action, no standing around.

way to be the typical American jerkoff about this..

Im sure in the rest of the world, they say the same about football and baseball "who gives a fuck? it's American football"

it's a sad statement of where Americans lie in the world, that we cant even get our own fucking people to enjoy the one common thing the rest of the world can.. fuckin Iran is involved in this, and instead of politics, instead of Ahminijad, and nuclear weapons being discussed.. you know what they're talking about? What Iran did wrong to allow Mexico to sneak away with a 3-1 win on Sunday.. ..

Maybe we're all just ignorant Americans about soccer...

...But at least when us ignorant Americans go to watch the Steelers or Penn State play "American Football", we're not throwing bags of piss at fans of the other team, or running hooligan gangs to start fights, fires, and general disruptions at stadiums.

I'll grant you that, hooliganism is a problem in soccer, and no you dont see that at American football.. but maybe thats because we just dont show emotion and heart in our fanfaire at these events..

You cant tell me, that Steelers fans or State fans show even one hundreth the emotion and passion for their teams, that Bayern Munich, and Manchester United fans show.. and if you do, you're a fucking liar.. if Steelers fans or State fans showed as much emotion and heart as Manchester United fans did.. the same shit would go down when Oakland, or Ohio State came into town..

Soccer fans will literally die for their team.. I have a friend, that I met in Cleveland 3 summers ago, he's from Glasgow, Scotland - he, and his entire family.. travel from Scotland yearly to places like Norway, Sweden, Amsterdam, just to watch a fucking soccer game.. I graduated from high school with a kid from Berlin, he travels to Slovakia, Hungary, Poland for soccer games.. that is the measure of their passion for the game.. no American would ever do that.. for the Pittsburgh Steelers.. if the Steelers played in other countries.

You make it sound like only degenerates play soccer, which once again you're saying the rest of the world are degenerates... which I find to be the typical Central Pennsylvania attitude about ANYTHING of difference.. you know, you'd figure Central Pennsylvania would have something to cheer for this time around, we have a kid on the U.S. Team, right now in Germany, from MIDDLETOWN (outside of Harrisburg) - his name is Ben Olsen .. but I bet none of you knew that, why? Because nobody in this country gives a fuck for soccer..

You can say "owned" all you want playing the card of hooliganism, because we dont throw bags of piss at people or start gang fights.. well you know what, that's not entirely accurate.. in Los Angeles, when the Raiders played at the L.A. Coluseum - stabbings have occured, gang fights.. maybe not to the extent of Euro Soccer.. but then again, we dont make Stadiums that can hold 500,000 people.. unless there's a god damn race track inside of it..

I can tell you, as a die hard Steelers fan, that I am every bit as emotionally charged about the team and the season as those people are about their teams ... I'm just not so uncivilized that I celebrate a win by burning down the f*cking stadium or protesting a "bad call" by sending perfect strangers to the ER ... those people are retarded.

It's not the sport's fault, however. Still, I can't watch soccer for the same reason I can't watch hockey: Four hours later, 1 point is scored ...

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz ...

You see, I can atleast RESPECT why you cant get into hockey or soccer.. you have a reason, you like scoring - and soccer doesnt provide it.. Have you watched the "new" NHL? goals like crazy now..

Nope, no bags of piss here just drunken fans and overpaid basketball players beating the shit out of them. Plus go wear a cheifs jersey to a raiders home game and you'll see how civilized we are.

As a Raiders fan.. I will personally slaughter any and all chiefs, broncos, or steelers fans that step foot into the Black Hole, and wear their jersey..

One thing I WILL do before I die: I will attend an AFC Championship Game, in Oakland - in the black hole..

And as a chiefs fan I will go nowhere near that black hole of which you speak. Raiders fans are fucking lunatics. I wouldn't even go disguised as a Raiders fan cuz I fear they can smell it on you,(Raiders fans have their own unique odor you know). :D

I'd rather watch soccer than the Raiders.... 8)

And whats with all the racism in Europe? Anytime a black player is on the soccer field they throw bannanas at them, i watched a 60 minutes show on that and its just getting worse.

Its terrible in Italy, and Spain.. one guy in France got so stressed out over it, he started crying and screaming, threatening to walk off the field - fortunately his teammates, the refs and the other team were able to convince him to not stand for such faggotry..

Whaddya know, I'd rather watch Soccer than the Raiders, too! Although, I don't watch any Sport on tv other than Football and an occasional Baseball game. Whoever puts Soccer down, must never have gone to many games...even little kids or high school teams. My daughter has played Soccer since the age of FIVE and as someone said, the games are in constant motion. Also, when the defense and offense are good, yeah, there may be only 1 goal...SO? It's great to see such skill in play, but then again, I'm slightly whacked! :D

Well, it's not that I follow it, I just happened to watch that much of Sportscenter.

Since everyone is talking about American football as well. I will be the one standing tall (probably in a corner) saying I'm a Jaguars fan. JACK-SON-VILLE! JACK-SON-VILLE! JACK-SON-VILLE!

I can tell you who cares about soccer.
The English,Korean,Italian,Croatian,Brazilian,Argetianians,German,Dutch and etc. who come to the establishment I work at in Pittsburgh. Piper's Pub is the place. These people live and die for this sport. They go fucking NUTS for their teams, and they drink and eat and drink and drink and drink some more.We are back in the kitchen and all of a sudden you hear this loud roar when someone just comes close to scoring a goal.
It's fucking insane when you try to go through the bar to get supplies,it's fucking packed to the rafters.
So I say: Do it to it.
It's not American football, but they sure do love it
Check it: www.piperspub.com
Cheers!!!!!!!!!
