UPDATE: I have been slowly adding songs when I get the time, averaging about 3-5 per day. I hope y'all are enjoying the new sound of Mandatory Metal. If you haven't listened yet, check it out at 10PM on Rocky 104.9. It's getting heavier and heavier.

Sincere thanks to all of you for all your help in this undertaking. It's gonna take some time, but hopefully with assistance from RoadRunner, MetalBlade and NuclearBlast America, I'll have a good metal library soon.

Haha.. Devil Driver... they were with Gwar at Crowbar a few weeks back, and they smoked. Their drummer was on fire, not in a literal sense, but damn close.

Almost forgot one other band Kevin:

Edguy. Anything from the Hellfire Club disc, especially "Down to the Devil," "Mysteria," and "Navigator."

Totally agree. They are by far one of the best new power metal bands to hit the global market since Stratovarius. Hellfire Club is amazing. Front to back, there's not a bad song on it.

On a side note, I picked up the new Metal Edge and saw an ad for a band called Symphony X. Anyone familiar with them? I'd like to pick up their latest disc, but I want to know what they sound like first before I buy the CD.

I have Symphony X's V: The New Mythology Suite CD; as I recall, kind of Yngwie-styled classical/progressive metal. Pretty good stuff overall, particularly if you're a fan of shred guitar...

I saw Symphony X at ProgPower in 2001....I then saw EDGUY there in 2002. Absolutely no comparison. Though Symphony X was good, EDGUY was AWSOME! I always judge a band by whether or not I'd go out and buy the album after I saw them live and with Symphony X, I didn't. But in all fairness to Symphony X, there were alot of GREAT bands at ProgPower in 2001.....Evergrey, Balance of Power, Angel Dust, Kamelot, Superior, etc.

On a side note, if you like Stratovarius, this is the year to check out ProgPower as they are headlining and will be joined by such bands as Angra, Therion, and Pink Cream 69....wish I was going!!!!

Balance of Power! Love them too. Although I like the Ten More Tales version better with Lance King on vocals.

I saw them with Lance King singing. I really only know BOP with King as the vocalist. Long story, but I am trying to rebuild my cd collection and haven't gotten newer BOP cd's. One word....DIVORCE!!! Sorry, a little off of thread topic!!! :?

Vic, Symphony X was on Gigantour yesterday in Pittsburgh.
They kicked ass IMO.

Here's a link to a zip file of a full sample song.
