How the hell will a separate forum solve a thing? You know damn well everyone will end up checking it out and then the same feeding frenzy will start. Either don't open the post, or if you do, your replies should be presented in a tasteful manner, respectful of others views. You don't have to agree, just stop the fucking name calling. Don't let your mouth write a check your ass can't cash. Ron doesn't have time for mamby pamby bullshit.
As Ron said, I too have a job.
Back in 2004, there was a lot of heated political debate on Rockpage relating to the presidential election that year. Lots of rhetoric was spewed on both sides of the fence, and I for one was getting tired of seeing it. Then once the election took place, I thought the political bickering would subside. But it didn't, with somebody posting the next day to bash the winner, W. At that point, I openly griped about the political stuff here on Rockpage, and was promptly reamed out for it, both on this site and in public. One Rockpager at the time came up to me during a live show and tonguelashed me about the issue, expressing that he wanted to read what his fellow musicians thought about political issues. He made a valid point, and although I still think it can get excessive at times, I no longer have a problem with politics being discussed in "General Discussion." Politics and music do tie together from time to time, whether with political issues involving music, or musicians singing about political issues. And like the person who lectured me that night, I too like to know what people think about certain issues. I have my own opinions, and they're not likely to change from reading yours, but once in a while some true wisdom comes forth, even in the political threads. If I'm not in the mood for politics, I do not read the political threads, simple enough.
By the way, the Rockpager who lectured me that night, subsequently and publicly left Rockpage a few years later because somebody voiced an opinion that upset him on a controversial topic...Go figure.
