Peter C's Money Sitch!!!!

Well, I see alot of differences of opinion here, but in the same, everyone agrees.

I am not saying this as being a band member, or anything. My band has never played at Peter C's, however many of my friends bands have.

I have spoken to many bands that will not say a bad word about P.C's, and maybe those reasons are fear, or what have you, or maybe that reason is, these people live to play, and if the atmosphere is not the best, then they can tolerate it, as long as these people are doing what they love.

Issues I would like to point out as an observer of this topic.

Soundman; you say about you only make what is on the stage louder, so if you hear shit, it's just louder shit. That's a pretty arrogant way of looking at things. I play a Mesa Triple Rectifer amp, 150 all tube watts; It's louder than anyone will need, I use it in my band room, in my living room just fine, and get a great sound, yes we all know louder in a tube amp gets a better sound, but for the most part I can get a comfortable band room volume, why can't someone get that on stage; it's not hard.

the guitarist has his amp/head, combo or whatever, set at stage volume, Last I checked the sound guy placed miks to get a good sound, and did checks with the band. The guitarists amp usually serves as a sound monitor for them, and then there are other monitors with the whole mix in it.

For you to say the shitty sound is anyone but your own fault, is stupid and ridiculous, the room my band plays in is a living room of my house, we have no problem getting a good sound, maybe it's different in a bar, but I think a sound guy who is good can really make a difference.

Booking bigger bands and dropping smaller ones;

That's bullshit as big as it gets, if you tell me to play at 10PM and say I can set up at whatever time I get in, you telling me I can't come because you booked sugga-dik-bitch-ass, I'm probably never going to come again, bands take time out of their day and book at one place, and that night they would have no place play, and no money in their pocket. Weather or not you (Big John) do that, I have no clue.

Dirty Bathrooms/Dive bar comments/ cleanliness issues;

Very true, quite honestly I was afraid to pee for fear something would jump on me, it's awful, and that has been an age old comment, from ALOT of people I have talked to. Granted, it does not need spic and spanned every five minutes, but when Big no toothed mountain man goes in, takes a shit the size of San Antonio, wipes his ass with all the t.p. and vomits through the 4 teeth he has in his head, someone should get something and clean it up! Piss all over the floor, Unacceptable.

Peter C's is not the only offender for dirty restrooms, and everyone knows that, very few bars have super clean bathrooms.

People saying Peter C's is a dive bar? Maybe so, maybe not, just go to Kings on a Friday or Saturday and watch the people who got as drunk as they could at PC's and go to Kings to start fight with the homosexuals that come from the gay bar.

I went to Peter C's SEVERAL times to see bands, and I tell you what, none of the bands seemed upset about it being whatever people say I will offer this, some of the clientle may seem questionable, but you're in a bar for God's sake! I went, and never had a problem there, bottom line is this, complaints are fine, constructive critisism is fine, but have some backing to what you say, give reason, because lible and slander are against the law, and can come back to haunt you.

If I want my own doorman, he better be allowed to toss people the hell out who did not pay, anyone gives him trouble, he gives it back.

Side note on the sound man, I should not have to pay to use my own soundman, but if you are charging me to use your equipment, then that is another story, because your equipment is your property, you paid for it, it's yours, and if anyone has a problem paying to use it, the hell with them.

Fat Vin, I don't think your livemusic whoever, but I do know alot of people have bad differences of opinions with you, but then again, it may be the people that are saying this stuff, but I have had a personal experience with you when I was about 14, and just started playing guitar about 2 years prior, and you blew me off like I was a piece of shit in a punch bowl, but whatever that's fine I have heard some of your stuff, and have heard you play before, you're alright, and if people don't like you, the hell with them.

The Big John started this for publicity? I think that's a crock of shit, he probably was pissed about something, and came here to rockpage.net to vent it.


This is THE bottom line. Live music is hard to come by anymore, very bad stories out there of bad bar owners ripping guys off, and everyone knows a DJ can do you away at anytime. Free Enterprise, if someone else wants to try and be a nightclub, let them, if they are doing better, find ways to work with them, or to do better than them.

I hope I did not piss anyone off, these are my OPINIONS and it is important to note that my OPINIONS and OBSERVATIONS may be different than yours.

What I meant by everyone agrees is this, the things that were said about PC's cleanliness, or any mis doings on bookings, or payments, no one really disputed that, it's because

A; They don't know.
B; They're afraid to say.

I'll be honest, if my band was full force right now, and we were playing out, I would not hesitate in one minute to play there.

The Grimm, a VERY respected name in original music, and a band I wish I could get to see more often, they praise big John up and down, and I will be quite frank, if the brothers Grimm say something, then it is definately warranted, and you can trust their word as gospel, true class in every respect of the word.
