I don't need one nighters. I am looking for a band who has NO LEAD SINGER and wants to audition me. Period. Period Period.

................................................................................
You're totally missing my point with all this. I totally understand that you're looking to be in a band and I can't offer that to you. However, what's going to come out of this is if I know of a band looking for a singer, I would pass the word letting them know you'd be someone they'd be interested in auditioning. Don't take this the wrong way, but without hearing you, I wouldn't pass your name, nor anyone elses to anyone I knew. Another thing by jamming with as many people as you can is to build business relationships within this business. I don't know if you realize this or not, but so far you're leaving a bad taste in a lot of the members here by how you've carried yourself. The musicians here are connected to a good majority of other musicians in this area, as well as throughout the state and beyond. The only thing I can say is good luck and I wish the best for you.

Sorry, but I had to ban the witch.

After two emails from Aja that I could not believe, ( I asked her very nicely to change her band page from a classified ad to a real bio and solo act info. I had disabled it, and asked her to change it. )

Here are slightly edited versions of the emails.

Email 1: (unedited)
aja wrote:I see just another male dominated act to shut out
female singers.

What you don't realize is I AM A SOLO ARTIST. Who
cares if my bio is set up like an ad. I still perform
around the local area as a solo artist. It is not like
I am doing nothing.

But you didn't think about that. YOu just want to
stiffle the women singers. What made you do it after
all this time. OH wait, I KNOW, IT WAS THE FACT THAT I
WAS GETTING MANY HITS, PROBABLY YOUR BAND WAS AT THE
TOP and I kept passing you.

What you did is selfish and inconsiderate.
Email 2: After I explained to her (politely) that I wasn't in a band, and had no such intentions.
aja wrote:Well it's because jerks like you who piss me off for
no reason

WHo cares if my page is set up more like an ad than a
solo artist. What DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE? What does
it matter?

YOu have no right just ripping it down for no reason.
An AD IS NOT GONNA HURT YOUR PAGE. WHO THE HELL CARES
IF ITS AN AD. WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT MATTER.

You cant even give me a reason. Will your page just be
taken down because of an ad. I THINK NOT. WILL YOU
HAVE TO PAY EXTRA FUNDS, I THINK NOT.
WILL YOU BECOME SICK AND DIE, I THINK NOT.

You are soooo f*cking stupid it is unbelievable. If I
were to chance a FEW WORDS, IT WOULD BE ALRIGHT,
EHHAHAHAHAHAHH U SEE HOW STUPID THAT SOUNDS. If i
make it more like a solo artist page than its ok.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAH. But because i say words like

I AM LOOKING FOR A BAND, THAN SUDDENLY IT HAS TO BE
TAKEN DOWN. DO YOU KNOW HOW F*CKING STUPID THAT
SOUNDS.

Your a jerk period. This is why I have an attitude
because I face pricks like you everyday WHO MAKE ME
THIS WAY. YET ANOTHER MALE DOMINATED JERK WHO HAS TO
CONTROL WOMEN.
... Into the mud, Scum Queen!
... and then the wheel fell off.

Kudos, Ron.

"You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him (or her) drink."

After a weekend's worth of advice, suggestions and attempted help by the readers of this board, this person disses all of it and bashes the site administrator for enforcing the guidelines of the board.

You can only do so much to try to help out a person, but for Aja, I guess she's gotta get out there and see how the real world operates for a little while. I would be intrigued to see her comments on a board like this in 10 or 20 years, after she has had some time to pay some real dues in the music world beyond the classrooms at Berklee.

In any case, I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors, Aja. If your attitude out in the actual field of person-to-person dealings in this business is anything like your attitude towards people on this message board, you're going to need all the luck you can get.

I'm a drummer who is getting discouraged. I am going to put up a post looking for a band in 3 days, and I haven't gotten any responses yet! Can't you people read minds???

You bunch of egotistical drummer-controllers!

ROTFL!!

Thanks, Ron, but now who are we going to debate our woman-controlling tendencies with??

I really can't believe this has gone this far! AJA, since your first couple IGNORANT posts, the people here have only tried to be nice to you! Yet, no matter what anyone says to you it's wrong, no matter how nice everyone has tried to be, you respond rudely. So I'm gonna say what everyone here is probably already thinking:

Go back to Boston cause......YOU ARE A BEEEAAATTCCHH! !

The sexist, woman-hating drummer of WAKE UP SCREAMING!

Yeah, and the TWO FRICKIN' YEARS I invested in this solo act before I ever climbed onstage, that's chopped liver. Okay, that was all my fault, I kept involving great players then never had time to rehearse because of my day job... but still!
Wanna hear something funny? The whole time I was on Rockpage on Saturday, during this fiasco, I kept humming a song I heard on "the Q"---
"I take a look at my enormous penis, And I know everything will be okay..." I wish she could have heard that, I laughed and laughed. I'm very easily amused.
I'm just glad she didn't start this crap in NYC, or even Boston. They'd have eaten her alive. It's so easy to blame someone else for one's own shortcomings, in this case inexperience and an inflated sense of self. Look at the charts... is there a shortage of female acts? Of course not. Shoot, look locally... there are great female musicians, look at Terri, or Trace, or Woo, Carrie, or any number of others. Do we big strong men hold them all back? If we do, we're not doing a very good job of it, because they all kick ass and take names.
I'm kinda sad to see this girl booted... Saturday was a GREAT day to be on Rockpage! Long Live Testosterone, and Power To The Penis!---->JMS

What we really have to be concerned about is this huge conspiracy concocted by the major clothing lines, in part with with the misogynistic neoright-wingers. I'm talking about the slogans and brand names printed on shirts. I know what you are all thinking, "Paul, you've watched that movie with Rowdy Roddy Piper and the special sunglasses to many times. Now you believe that we are being brainwashed into following an enslaving capitalistic agenda." Brothers and sisters..........I mean Sisters and brothers (don't want to be sexist here), I wish it could be so simple. I'm talking about a conspiracy in which the clothing lines have embroidered their brand names across their shirts. This causes men, both consciously and unconsciously, to read the names thus also looking at womens' breast. It's a huge agenda to empower males by objectifying females. But this isn't to say that our favorite Scottish wrestler didn't have a hand in helping me see the light. There's also a pyschological marketing scheme at work. You know how they say "Sex Sells", well this is a very subtle way of selling sex. When you see the words, "Old Navy", your mind will make an unconscious association with women's breast (since you were looking at a women's breast when you read "Old Navy" on her sweater) and you will buy the piece of clothing. They are trying to oppress our anima's here people. They want all of us men to be hairy, misogynistic, women-hating, apes. I say it's time to stand up to this injustice. Boycott any shirt with lettering across the front!!!

Sorry, I just thought this thread needed some comic relief. :)

Who needs her anyway? There are already way too many female "solo artists" as it is. How many new ones come out each day in mainstream radio??? It's time for REAL musicians to become the big thing again, not some girl that looks good and can sing a few notes in a bra and panties to some generic electronic beat. Go to mtv studios and offer a bj if you want to get somehere aja...don't cry to our forum.

I have been playing bass almost longer than this girl has been alive ( been playing 20 years) I have broke up with my most recent band last week, and I am a girl. Where will I be this week, at open mic night, me and my bass waiting to get on stage with anyone who will jam, I will be out networking with other musicians, letting everyone know im available. If one person sees you and they tell another, and they tell another, you only need that one person to find you or you them, your new bandmates. I am definitly not waiting around for someone to e-mail me about an audition. You never know how you are going to find your new bandmates, so you have to shoot for every option available, unless you just want to sit in front of your computer and wait. You may be lucky if your new bandmates just shoot you an e-mail, but in all probability thats not a very big chance. In the music community word of mouth, and networking goes a long way. Being nice to other musicians goes a long way (hint) especially when your looking for gigs for your band, or just looking for a band.

I have been in this business for a long time and "ATTITUDE" plays a big part on a lot of things, maybe nobody will give you a shot cuase there are to many people boasting about "How good they are" insted of taking a look at themselves. I'm sure that you can sing, but your attitude sings louder......

Way to go, BassChick! That's the attitude. Of course, you also have experience, which goes a long way... our miss Aja doesn't feel she needs that, because she went to...well...you know where she went to school. I'm betting you'll make out okay. So will Aja, if she loses the Diva attitude.---->JMS

Yeah, I agree; this board gets sleepy sometimes and needs some controversy every once in a while. It gets people to talk about things that they normally wouldn't talk about. You get to see how people really are. Sometimes I think the board has a "swarm" mentality and people will gang up on someone who challenges the system. I don't think that's very cool. In this case though, this chick (oops, that's very sexist of me  ) brought it all upon herself. I'm sure that she's gone through some misogny but I would judge from her posts, half of it's in her head.

Even I sometimes miss The Reason for the points stated above. When he was posting it gave me motivation to check the board daily. I loved all of his psudeo-existentialist BS rants of how he was so orginal; the way he would present his opinion as a maxim even though none of it could be backed up with factual, empirical, or logical evidence; how every arguement he tried to pass as an axiom was full of more holes than a Wes Craven plot; how it was so easy to pyschoanalyze him everytime he thought he was clever and would change his username, ect. Even so, it was good he was here because some of the stuff he said forced me think about it, even though I found logical fault in just about everything he said. (must be my INTJ personality. :P ) I think I became better at arguement. Unforunately, instead of argueing back against my point he would just call me gay. In hindsight I probaly shouldn't have fought with him so much. It probaly didn't cast the best light on me or the band I was in at the time. Live and learn though.

This is why we need a Rockpage retrospective at the jam. :)

I have to say that when I logged on this past Sat. and started reading through two weeks of forum discussions and came across Aja's, I didn't think she was for real. In fact, there is still a part of me that thinks someone joined rockpage, posed the questions and comments she did as some sort of sociology experiment for college or something. All they would have to do is print out our posts and that's a term paper in itself. Just a thought. Could be a good psych paper. I want to thank everyone who stuck up for me and said what I felt I couldn't because I didn't want to get into a p%&ssing match. I may be a weak woman who is subservant to men but I do know better than to bang my head against a wall.

People who degrade women are frustrated, awkward, socially challenged males who simply project a false sense of hartred toward what they could never possibly attain. This is the reason they sit and poke at their keyboards in a world that poses no threat or rejection. Why would anyone seek musicians through such a medium? I have no idea. All the "bands" on this site owe millions of dollars in royalties to all the bands they "cover"(steal material from)Rockstars get girls......Right?....RIGHT!?.....(sob).Hell, the name "rockpage" itself is a rippoff of another site.
