Great work guys. That song is better than a lot of the stuff I hear on the radio.
Ditto guys, Zilly did a great job as usual and your mix sounded great there live.
Keep it up dudes, sounds bitchin!

As the material becomes more pervasive, it will most likely get worked into our setlist and treated like any other song without a formal introduction. I will admit that when I was playing the song prior to this and looked down at the setlist to see it was next, I got nervous
Paul, I wasnt trying to be a dickbag so I hope you didnt take offense. I am trying to push a point.

When I finally convinced a former singer of mine to quit announcing tunes as originals, we as could play whatever we wanted. The nights where he would start announcing b4 each tune u could see the ppl migrate away from the stage. He always told me it was easy for me cause I had been in original projects before, and I always told him he was the most popular guy in town (they were putting 400-500 ppl in places) that if he was ever going to "make it" its a helluva lot easier to win over ppl who already think u are a rockgod.

Lately I been seeing a lot of touring bands roll thru Johnstown (at the Aces). There is something different about the way they present themselves vs how popular bands around here present themselves.

Back on topic; good tune.

Zilly is one of the best sound men that I have ever worked with!.At the last Echo Chamber show at city limits we tried a little recording with my 4 track recorder.I wasen't expecting a whole lot out of this recording, being live and all,but when I got it home I was verry happy with it.Zilly took the time to set up my recorder to record the drums on track 1,the bass on 2 guitars on 3 and vocals on 4, that way I had room to play around with the levels in the mix.If it were up to me Zilly would run sound at every Echo Chamber show!

Oh no, Chad, I wasn't offended at all. In fact, I found it kind of humourous because you are right. In the case of City though, it kind of worked in the opposite direction, since there were a lot of friends there. They all walked to the front of the stage when Rob announced it. Last night, we just launched into it like it was just any cover song on our setlist.

I definitely hear you on the Rock God thing. I think it was Marilyn Manson of all people who said that if you act like a rockstar people will treat you like a rockstar. I don't know. When I'm on stage, I try my best to be a presence (or is that a presents, which is connected somehow to EN_ER_GY?). I hate people who stand there and stare at their shoes. You don't have to jump around like an idiot to have stage presence. It doesn't matter if you're playing rock, blues, country, or jazz: There's always a way to project stage presence (or stage presents). But when the music stops and I walk off stage, I'm just Paul, you know? I just don't think that there's any need for a rockstar air off stage. In fact, it really turns me off on local musicians when they do that. Anyways, this has kind of digressed from the point. Maybe I'll make a new thread about it.

And yes, Zilly is definitely the man.

it can be a scary thing for a cover band to, out of nowhere, bust out an original. We try to pick certain places that would appreciate certain originals of ours. I was really afraid to play our originals at 4D's this weekend, but they went over pretty well. Sometimes if you announce an original it will just clear a dance floor instantly because people are of the mindset of "If i haven't heard it on the radio a billion times, i won't like it!".

And by the way, great job on the original guys, it smoked (i saw the video). Too bad I wasn't there to see it, hell, I've been asking "When are you guys going to write an original???" for the past 2 years now, and you finally do, and i cant see it the first time it hits a stage, that blows. Great job though guys, keep it up.

Killjingle wrote:note to all bands: PLEASE oh PLEASE when playing your new baby dont do the "We are gonna play an original song we wrote" FUCK that... play it loud, proud; and only give the war cry after the battle has been fought and won
Exactly, Chad. Just play it and see what happens, that's the ticket. Now this night (at the request of the RFTT videographers), we did give a brief "here's our new one" over the intro but the "pomp and circumstance" prior to playing an original song can be a bit much.

EDIT: Yeah, this topic was covered by Future Bobby already, I see ...

Thanks for the kind words, everyone.

I prefer to credit Steven Tyler with the more catchy and to the point:

I thought it came out really good for a hand held camcorder. We've recorded ourselve's the same way on a few occasions and it never came out as clear yours.
Once again..nice work. And cheers to Bag for capturing the first live performance of that tune.

i might as well chime in with my .02 . great job guys. for those of us that are too scared to share our music for fear that our egos just couldn't take any critisism or the awkwardness of any compliments, i personally look at what you guys have done and any original band for that matter as absolutely awesome. to put what you have created out there for all to seeand hear is quite an accomplishment. really. i'm sure it is a big leap foreward for you guys as a band. congrats to all.

to hear paul say when he looked down at the set list and seen the original was next up and that he got nervous was actually nice to hear, cuz on hear he seems very knoledgable and confident in his abilitys and it leaves a little shred of hope for myself that i might break through the barriers of not giving a rats ass what people think and just do it. very inspireing. maybe someday. great job again guys.
