I have the same problem with my 12" tom. What I've always done is mess with the tuning of the bottom head, but I can't get rid of the buzz completely. Also if I adjust the snare tuning, an other drum will cause the buzz. There's gotta be a drum tech on here, so PLEASE help us out.
I maybe in my own little world, but It's ok they know me here.

Your actually gonna have that with allot of different levels of tuning....Once you have one tom tuned to a pitch it will resonate to the snare...you can let the snare alone and tune the tom slightly...but a note on the bass guitar will activate it also....it happens when the pitch is similar....Do you use gates?? Do you mic from the bottom?...you can remove some from the PA mix by putting the mic on the top.
