Sorry for the cheesy thread title, but I've always been a pretty big 311 fan.
I normally don't post every little band detail up here on Rockpage, but thought that some folk'lls may be interested. After about five years on area stages, we've finally completed our first original song. After a two-year rehearsal hiatus, it was tough getting everyone together for a few practices, but the persistence finally paid off. We're looking forward to debuting it this Saturday, June 23rd, with our good friends, FedUp, at City Limits and Rock for the Troops (c'mon, you knew that there was a shameless plug in here somewhere ). It's great to finally have something that you can say is yours.

Damn months that start with the same letter! Thanks for the mention of the FUBAR, Ken.

if its rob singing, its gotta be outta key with a choppy melody, but i'll take a listen when it gets up.
No, honestly, its great that you guys are breaking into the original realm. with the talent that floats around in that band, this is going to be an awesome original. cant wait to hear it guys!!!
Thanks for the support, guys. Original music was always a goal for the band, but we wanted to put the horse before the cart. Not that our way is the only way or the correct way to do things; it's just how we wanted to do it. Some people have been critical of us for that strategy - and that's cool - but it was sort of the philosophy of the band members to gain experience with each other as musicians and gain experience up on stage "as a unit" before putting out our own stuff. Honestly, most of the other original projects I've been involved with didn't have as much meaning as writing with this band, because the other times, I came in without really knowing the other cats. I wrote my parts, recorded them, then shook hands on my way out of the studio. I can dig jamming with other players as long as things are clicking on a musical level, but I still get the most satisfaction out of playing with people whom I have a personal connection and history with.
I'm going to shut up about that now, because it's starting to sound like I'm trying to kiss my own ass or hype things up. It's ultimately going to be the public who decides if the material has any value.
Hope to see some of you cats on Saturday!
