FLAMES?
FLAMES?
Flames...hmmm...what's one gotta do to get another one of those flames by their name? What do they mean? I thought at 100 posts you got another flame...13 posts past 100 I guess I was wrong!

I know these questions have been answered before by Ron in another thread, but for the life of me I can't find it.

I was wondering about the flames as well. I think it has something to do with how many topics you start. As far as gold member, senior member etc... goes, I'm not sure how those get changed. I saw the question about retroactive member though. When you first join you get an active member tag. My brother just asked Ron if he would change his to retroactive member because he is in retroactive the band. I really thought it was a cool idea so I asked Ron to do the same for me. Neat how that worked out for us.

From what I can remember.....
Senior members were the first people to join. (I forget if it was the first 50 or first 100) Then Gold members were the people who reached, (I believe) 100. But I think Ron said something about certain members not reaching Gold status because of the date they reached 100 post; those who had 100 post prior to the upgrade didn't go to Gold status, but those who reached 100 after did. Then I think there might be one or two more tiers you can be awarded by reaching a certain amount of post. I hope I didn't butcher that explantation too much.
Retroactive and Active Retard were special titles granted to Facingwest, Redawg and Colton.

Well I'm a senior member because I was one of the first 50 to join. I joined in Dec, 2002. I'm still at 2 flames with about 115 posts. I see REDAWG joined in 2003, has 85 posts and has 3 flames. So I'm thinking that the "posts" have nothing to do with it. Also it seems that joining date has nothing to do with it. Ron'll let us know...he always does.

Sorry I missed this thread somehow...
Here's the flamin' lowdown
The first 6 are special ranks, with senior members being the first 50 to join the site.
Special ranks have 2 stars, except for moderators and admins, which have 5.
If any one wants to have a special rank added or wants to get rid of a special rank, let me know, and I'll see what I can do.

I want to make a prediction!!
I'd be willing to wager that we will now see more replies to posts just to increase that members number of posts so they can get another flame.
You know - posts like this one that really don't have any merit, aren't related to music, are just basically fluff!
(Yippee - now only 57 more to go to be a gold member!! Or if I get really ambitious - 457 for platinum)

Yes, but a high post count comes with a price. A high post count is also a testament to not having a life. While internet geeks can bask in the adoration of their fellow geeks, their high post count stands proof that they do not have a girlfriend, obtain social gratification through non-confrontational interaction, and are experts in the field of song craft.

Yeah Tom, I seem to reply a lot. I've been pretty busy with work, prepping for school, starting a business, and gigging that today is the first day I've actually had time to sit down and relax.byndrsn wrote:Hey Paul, that is funny!! Now I truly understand
There have definitely been one or two people that constantly reply to posts....and judging by their responses.... have to be going for the flames! Though their posts should warrant a "Flame RETARDant"
I hold no prejudice to the "flamers" in this forum..... You go girl(thz)
