I hear they are similar to the SLO-100, but I haven't heard one.

Anybody have info?

I'm pretty sure that Jimi Hatt has a Soldano designed Yamaha. I'm not sure of the model. Jimi, are you out there?

Yes, there is a plaid T50 floating around somewhere. Daxman has it at the moment. Or maybe not. I'm easily confused.

It'll definitely rival an SLO, but not "as is". Dr. Sarge knows a lot about these amps and brought mine up to spec. Weird things like different brands of 12AX7's at different spots in the preamp.

The big advantage it has over a real SLO is separate EQs for each channel. That, and being one-tenth the price. :D

It shares the same quirks as an SLO, too. Like the sterile 80s-style clean channel. And that it only sounds good with a band. It sounds very plain until you hear how it's voiced with a full band. Soundmen love it. A soundguy once told me after a set that he appreciated that I had a volume boost for my solos, and had it set to a good level. There was no volume boost! It was just the clarity of the T50 in the mix.

Another great "sleeper amp" for rock is the Lee Jackson series from Ampeg. Kinda high maintenance, but they have a great sound.

old sKool has a Lee Jackson power amp that he's using with an ADA in his practice rig. I didn't know that the company was affiliated with Ampeg, though. I really liked the sound of your Ampeg rig. It's pretty well known that I'm not a huge Ampeg guy when it comes to bass equipment. Actually, let me rephrase that: I'm not a big Ampeg guy when it comes to their solid state bass equipment. Their all-tube heads slay, and their hybrid stuff is nice. I love, love, love their guitar stuff though! It's very creamy sounding. I played in a band with a guy who used a 2x12 Ampeg combo. What an amp! It was very warm and full sounding. Plus it had gain out the ass.

Have you recieved your Mesa rig yet, Jimi?

p.s. Also, if you're looking for Soldano sound, don't forget to check out the first generation of 5150 amps. Peavey got sued over those.

Yes, and it's scooped like crazy!

Actually I haven't found much time to play it. It looks like it sounds good, though. :(

What Mesa gear did you get Mr. Hatt? As far as Lee Jackson he used to hot rod Marshalls for alot of the big names back in the 80's then started his own company Metaltronix. He also had a company named Perfect Connection that did the rack stuff. I read a few years ago that now he mostly does sound engineering for movies & theater or something like that. I also read where he'll still repair any piece of equipment that he's ever built. Now that's a helluva a dude!
old sKool was here...

Is that a 1-12 combo or a head/rackmount?
