Has anyone had any experiences there????????
Ever Since Yesterday played there last Saturday. When we walked in to book a show, the owner told us he didn't want any cursing, rapping, or singing about drugs. We figured that we could change a few things, censor ourselves if we had to - whatever, no big deal.
After our first set, he came up to us and said he wanted us to turn down and play stuff people could dance to. Two songs deep into our second set, we had the dance floor packed. There at be at least 30 - 40 people in front of us. As soon as we started our third set, the dance floor filled right back in for the entire last set.
Over 100 people that would never go in there came in just because we were there. We made the cash register ring all night long, and people had a great time. After everything was over, and it was time to get paid, the owners wife was complimenting us and he cut her off. "I don't care what happened, if you don't play want I want you to play then you won't come back." Hey, no sweat off our backs. We said "That's fine, give us our money and we'll leave."
The entire time we were there, they treated us like garbage. Then, just yesterday, they called us up and said that they were going to go ahead and cancel our other booking because "Oh...we don't think we're going to have live entertainment that night." When we asked about rescheduling the day, they said "Um, no - we're booked solid the whole way up until July and we might be closing for renovations and remodeling."
What it boils down to is that he wants to turn the place in a Country type place. So unless your singing about your wife leaving you, your dog dying, and your truck blowing up, he doesn't want you there. We told him up front what we were about, and he booked us anyway. It's not our fault that you don't like us. However, when the entire place is dancing, slamming, and singing along - what are you complaining about? Isn't that the point?
My advice is, unless you want to be treated like dirt, don't book yourself there. I mean, if you fit the bill - more power to you. Although, if you're a hard rocking band, forget it.
Take it how you will.
