Back in the 70s, when rock was in a coma, disco drove me into bluegrass. I still carry a love for the sound. O Brother, Where Art Thou is my favorite sound track of accoustic music, as well as a damn funny movie.
Soggy Bottom Boys, that name is priceless.
Rock soundtracks, I have to be a broken record, Heavy Metal, and The Song Remains The Same
PLAY GUITAR!!!

I read somewhere that the bass line and "mouth pops" are 100% sampled.
Apparently somebody played short, random bass licks, and they cobbled them together with the pop sounds, also nearly at random. The bassist had no input as to the final product, and it changed from show to show. Weird, huh!
I was always partial to the bassline from "Barney Miller." Try it, it's really fun to play.----->JMS

yea the crossroads soundtrack is awesome, also the heavy metal one i forgot about that of course a lot of the rock opera or musicals turned to movies are very cool also but that brings us to a whole new subject!!???? hey maybe it could be like the old mtv video fights.....i can see it now this week its Tommy vs. The Wall

Jonathan Wolff, who composed the theme, claims to have used Pro Tools, Sound Designer, & Sample Cell to create the sounds, and a Kurzweil synth to play them on.songsmith wrote:I read somewhere that the bass line and "mouth pops" are 100% sampled.
The Ensoniq ESQ-1 sampler from the late 80's had a preset slap bass patch that was a dead ringer for the Seinfeld bass sound.
Wolff did make a library of the short bass snippets, and the producers would pick different ones for different episodes.
... and then the wheel fell off.

For an all instrumental movie soundtrack...STAR WARS. That theme song brings chills to my spine. Or...maybe it's the fact that I'm a HUGE Star Wars fanatic. The 500+ figures and 100's of vehicles residing in my attic might make me biased!
What about the Airheads soundtrack...mmm...good! Also, going back a few years...Demon Night soundtrack. Then we have Escape from L.A. If you have none of the above...go bye them all.

Oh, Hell Yes! The guys in Thin Ice all lived in a cabin on Lake Raystown for a summer, and the TV reception sucked, so we watched a lot of videotapes. At that time, porn accounted for most tapes sold (people rented regular movies, but bought porn!), and our favorite was "Taboo." There's a bassline to a song in that movie that just sticks with you. We used to play that song at practice as a joke. In "Taboo II" there were actually lyrics to the song! I wish we had learned that song... how cool would that be to play out!---->JMS

There are so many great soundtracks like The Wall, Tommy etc. but I have to agree with Lonewolf...if you have ever watched the original Highlander movie from start to finish Queen did an unbelievable job with that soundtrack. Some of their best songs are on there, great stuff. They have that anthem style to their music that makes them a good movie soundtrack band just like on the Flash Gordon soundtrack also. I could never find a soundtrack disc for it but Happy Gilmore soundtrack would be a great disc to have. There were alot of great songs in that movie.
