A word of warning to all local musicians and bands. My band played there recently and the owner told us to shut down after the second set initially because of the poor turnout (there was over 40 people there in a place that comfortably holds 60-70) and according to him he was losing money. When we pointed out the contradictions of his statements he tried back peddling by giving a bunch of excuses about the bands performance, his financial situation and experiences with past bands. The band had a written contract with 4B's for pay and the owner refused to pay the band (even a half amount) and told them to "take me to court" if they didn't like it becuase he didn't have the money to pay out. For the first set over the half the people there were our followers who left during the first set break to go to a regional band playing nearby.
I had heard of this MO for the owner of the bar as he has done this to other bands in the past but he put on a good act up front. Anyone else have anything like this happen to them? at 4B's? Other bands - Stay away from 4B's and don't give them any patronage unless you want to play in a dive for free.
